Although I like the food at Sindhu, I have stopped going there because of the interior. The sad dusty fake parrot hanging from the ceiling. The dirty empty fish tank. The splattered food on the walls. It's just a little too much. Lansing/East Lansing isn't much for restaurant ambiance, but this goes too far. In other towns, restaurants sometimes shut down one day a year to do a thorough scrub. Sindhu should follow suit, and they would end up with a local clientele. The food is decent and the service no better or worse than most places in the area. But the room...it needs some serious work.
We've ordered take out from Sindu on multiple occasions now, and have yet to be disappointed. Each dish we've tried has always been fresh and very good - We love their Chicken Pasand - very flavorful! The menu is extensive, but we're hoping to slowly work our way through it and try a variety of their entrees. Food travels well too, as carry out.
My experience is similar to others. The food is very good but the service is lousy. They barely acknowledge that you are there, especially the male server. We asked for water several times and they rolled their eyes like we were an inconvenience. But the food is very good overall.
Over the last two years I have eaten at Sindhu well over 40 times and have never had a negative experience. The food is excellent consistently. I highly recommend the lunch buffet!! They have a regular rotation of dishes that are served on particular days. My favorites are the Chicken Saag on Wednesday and the Chicken Tikka Masala on Fridays. For the money the lunch buffet is an amazing value. I've attended Sindhu for dinner on several occasions with my wife and have noticed no sexism : ).
My fiance and I went to Sindhu's for dinner last night. While the food was decent, I don't think I will ever go back to dine in at this restaurant. As someone else commented, the male server is EXTREMELY sexist. Each time he came to our table he only made eye contact with my fiance and only spoke to him. Every question he asked was followed by "SIR", making it clear who he was speaking to. This is by far the rudest thing I have ever seen!
Aside from that, don't expect much in terms of service. Our water was never filled even though the restaurant wasn't busy.

My friends and I had a very bad experience in Sindhu. The waiter brought our food two hours after we ordered and the food was cold. When we complained, the manager and the waiters behaved rudely. The lady at the counter is the only good person around the place.
Sindhu is one of the few Indian restaurants in town, but definitely not one of the better eateries. The food is mediocre. Biryani was just spiced rice and did not have the authentic taste. Other items too were not so good. Can't say they sucked, but were definitely not VERY good.
Great food! I cook Indian food and have relatives that come from India. The food is authenic, delicious, and served with a smile. I have only tried the chicken foods, but the lamb by other family memebers say it is good too. When ever I am in the area, we always make an effort to stop and have their food.
I love indian food! This place has some excellent naan and lamb dishes. The buffet is convenient, but the naan never seems to be as good as when ordered fresh. I don't like how there isn't a lamb dish included in the buffet, ever. It's always one or two chicken dishes and a bunch of vegetarian dishes. This place has the worst service ever though. Your water is never refilled in a timely manner. The service has disturbed me to the point of walking out on a couple occasions. So, I recommend carry-out only because the food is still great!
Sindhu is easily the best Indian restaurant in town. Having tried almost all the others within a 10 mile radius from East Lansing, I have come to frequent this restaurant 2-4 times a week.
Their lunch buffet is perfect for quick lunches or even for the longer business lunch. Not only a great deal, which I hesitate to use because great food is worth paying for in a place wanting for more, but it offers a decent variety for both vegetarians and non-veggies alike.
Dinners are even more extravagant having your main dishes served on top of candles to keep the food warm throughout the entire meal. The quality of food both in the buffet and dinners are always high.
The waitstaff are always kind and welcoming. One of my favorites and I have probably introduced over 20 people to this local treasure.

Visited this place twice out of no choice of much Indian cuisine around Lansing and due to crave for some Indian food. But twice had bad experiences ! Once saw a piece of long hair in my friends food and second was a witness of one of the waiters coming out of the restroom without washing his hands....how disgusting could that be ! Plus if you ask for some napkins each time they will get just one each....they are just not very courteous to talk to either ! Who would want to visit that place again ????
The food at Sindhu's has been delicious every time I have been there. The one problem that I have found in that the male waiters are very sexist. If a woman is dining with a man, they will speak directly to the man the entire time. They expect the man to order first and to tell them when they can take dishes. It's a little annoying, but they are polite besides that and are always there when you if you need anything.

Sindhu is by far the best Indian Restaurant in Lansing! They know how to make food spicy!
Their menu has tons of choices, including a huge selection of breads and vegetarian dishes.
Their mango custard is to die for.
We started going here for what we called "Indian Friday". Pretty soon we were having "Indian Friday" on Thusday, and then Wednesday, and then Tuesday because we couldn't wait until the end of the week :)
The food is excellent -- all of it. Lunch is buffet and dinner is off their menu. They have tables for larger groups, but it gets pretty busy at lunch time.
" They are also very accommodating to hurried schedules and late dinners... "
