I moved up herre in 1980, and, once introduced, have found the Deer Head dogs recipe to be the best after a realy Coney Island NY System dog.

The sauce, a bean-based mix, that so closely resembles chili, with chopped onions and mustard, is "to die for".

For my money, the location at 3301 Lancaster Pike is the best, followed close by the Maryland Avenue (just toward the city from Banning Park).

I have been going to "Deer Head" sinse I can Remember.
That is a long time. They were only in wilmington.
I was only 3-4-5?
Still, to this day I have to go once a week. Fortunatlly they have a buck a dog on Sundays. 1.00 for a single 2.00 for a double plus cheese.
Plus their other food is great also. The fries, "o"rings rule and the slaw is great. stop by and see for yourself.

The hot dogs are good but the Secret Sauce is what makes them legendary. I get 2 doubles dogs and a large fry for under ten bucks. The one I go to just renovated and the new place has the great looks to go along with the great taste. Oh and remember to try a milkshake as they are also very good!

These tiny hot dogs (10 to a lb)are tasteless after being split and fried on a flat grill and held aside and regrilled later. The "secret sauce" is mostly bread crumbs with spices in a tomato based sauce with a little meat. Employees don't seem to follow health code rules,ie don't wear hats in kitchen and eating in kitchen. Prices are too high

The deerhead sauce is the best sauce for hotdogs. Ketchup.......who needs it when you have the best sauce for your dogs. How they cook there dogs by spliting them and frying them through & through is a great innovation. Deerhead hot dogs are the best hotdogs in delaware. Heck I'm going to go get some right now!!
