I read about Jimmy Mac's in a Southern Living magazine as a great place for burgers. We were on vacation in Bryson City and decided to go for a late lunch. The place is located right on the main strip - reminds me of Mayberry! The wait staff was the friendliest and the food was the best. It may only have been burgers, but they were the best burgers we ever had!! We're going back again in early November and we're already planning a trip back!
We recently went to this restaurant upon finding a menu in another local store. We stood in line while the (very sweaty) manager vocally told another group that he was purposefully not seating my party - because he wanted them to take a particular table. We waited (while the open table was in view) for 15 minutes because the other party did not want the table.
Our waitress was very late in coming to take drink orders (10+ minutes). They finally did arrive - but delivered by another waitress. We asked her to go get our waitress because we were ready to order. Again - a delay. She took our order (simple - burgers) and told us it should not be long. She disappeared for 20 minutes. She then came and refilled drinks - and told us it would not be long. At 40 minutes, one member of our party got a salad. Waitress was not seen again for another 30 minutes. By this point we had been there for 1 hour and 10 minutes. We had 4 waters and one empty salad bowl. Two groups who had come in after us had already been served, and were nearly finished with their meals. The waitress finally came out and assured us, again, that it would not be long. Off she went again into the great unknown. At 1 hour and 25 minutes we finally all got up and walked out. The waitress chased us to the door insisting that our food was just about up. We told her that it was too little too late.
As I was walking out the door - I heard the waitress flippantly telling another waitress "Not my fault" - to which I had to restrain myself from going back in and telling her just how much of the evening's unhappiness had been her fault. I don't care if the cook lost the order - her absence for the majority of our visit indicated to me that she was not following up on her orders.
All in all - it was a waste of a perfectly good evening - and I strongly advise others not to waste theirs in the future.
