The barley soup was tasteless, except for a strong black pepper flavor. The stock seemed to be chicken rather than beef. The Ruben sandwich, which has slathered with grease on a weakly flavored rye bread (store-bought, not fresh made), contained turkey, broccoli, weakly flavored Swiss cheese, and an overpowering amount of store-bought thousand island dressing. Terrible. The potato salad the other reviewer liked was creamy but tasteless. The potatoes were cooked until they were like mush. Two Ruben sandwiches and one cup of soup were $23! Go to Simple Simons or Jam and Bread. There the bread, soup and sides are great and made in-house.
BY far the best soups in town!! Always great service, and affordable. Our office uses Spruce St. for our catering events, and people from out of town for conferences, always request the place with the "the best potato salad". Everything is fresh, and you feel like you are welcome anytime. Try the sausage bread!!
