Mariachis & Mexican Food written by

After traveling to Mexico we started looking for real Mexican restaurants here in Phx...not Macayos or Manuels. We found Cervantes(family run) tucked in a corner on Mill & Southern. What a find! Mariachis that take requests while you dine on great food & margaritas...and the staff is wonderful...they remember us each time we visit! Highly recommend if you love real Mexican food!

Watery salsa and salty chips set the tone for the meal.
Guacamole appears pre-made and possibly based with (sour cream) (why??). Green color is the only evidence of avocado.
Carne asada tacos are two corn tortillas filled with bland, dry popcorn steak. Rice is bland and overpowered by black pepper. Beans are watery and bland. Ugh.
Waitress was friendly. Mariachis are very good, but table conversation soon becomes a shouting match.
WWE wrestling on the TV's make for strange choice while dining.

This is a really great place to go during lunch. The lunch specials are priced really good and you get free chips and salsa. The onwers are real friendly and always remember me and my husband when we go. Their cheese enchiladas, chicken tacos and chicken chimichangas are the best.

Food is great the mariachis came to our table to sing her a birthday song she had a great time. If you like mariachi music and good food the mariachi is there all night on fridays. We lost a family member recently that liked going to cervantes to hear the mariachis and my family met over there after the funeral.
