Does Lessie's Do Peas w/Snaps-Are They Any Good? written by

My Aunt Lessie made THE BEST peas with snaps. So, traveling near Clanton, AL, we found Lessie's Restaurant. Well regarded by locals ("Hey, look at all the cars there, the food MUST be good!"), I was reminded of how good her peas were. Returning to the area a few days later, we made a point to check out Lessie's for Sunday Dinner (Noon, heah in da South, thank you very much!).
Many vehicles again parked at the entrance was a happy sign of good things to come. We were not disappointed. The restaurant was clean & smelled delicious upon entry. Quickly seated by a friendly waitress, we proceeded to
fill our plates at the buffet. They had a wide variety of items to choose from...AND peas with snaps! The food &
the peas were very good, especially their hand breaded fresh fried okra...yum! Dessert was good as well
...any chance of some cobbler next time? Hurrah for Lessie's! Good food, good service, and Lessie's Peas with snaps...We shall return!
P.S. Oh, just up the road from Lessie's (or down, lol) just before the large Clanton peach in the sky, on the right was a family fruit stand. They had gorgeous pumpkins, enchanting gourds, and fresh vegetables. We were lucky enough, as well, to be greeted with genuine enthusiasm by a youngster of the clan. The merchandise and folks there were a treat NOT to be missed. We visited there going both ways. In the opposite direction, we found The Red Barn with the most beautiful red/orange pumpkin ever, & other seasonal wonders including fresh scuppernongs. Be sure to go!
Regards from a lil gal with roots in Alabama!
