the food is good. the service from the outside order and pickup window is just wrong. rhonda a late 40's over weight with dark hair has no business working with the public.why she is still there is beyond me. she is rude with bad attitude and to some people she is vendictive. she has to be fishing to get fired. looking to collect unemployement i would think. owners give it up. she is trouble.

Best Fried Chicken on Earth! written by

I'd been told this place had the best fried chicken in existence. People whose opinion I value had told me so. I had been by twice before Sunday and failed to get any chicken. Once, they said they didn't accept cards. The second trip, I was too early. And this ol' boy has to keep movin' if I'm not chowin' down, so I left and headed off to points east and figured I'd get back to Luverne some other time. Well, quite a bit of time had elapsed since my last visit when I got on the bike Saturday morning and headed south. Where to ride? What to do? I headed down old Hwy 31 and opened her up. Great ride on this road. Lotta memories from along here.
Anyway, I decided to cut over and hit Luverne. I've always had an affinity for that town 'cause when I was a little punk, my dad and I rode through there and I saw a hedge trimmed in animal shapes. I learned the word topiary that day. Stuck with me.
Got to the Shack at 9:45. Wandered in and asked the waitress, Kayla, if they served chicken that early. Yep, sure do! Alright!
I ordered half a chicken, all white meat. My god! The plate she brought out. Two huge breasts, two wings, a few fries and some cole slaw. $6.75. Excellent value. Picture those two giant breasts, perfectly fried...just the right golden-brown hue...oh, man!
And, yes, it was the best fried chicken I've tasted in years. Absolutely perfect. Kayla did a great job, too. Kept my tea filled and checked on me plenty. Going back often.
