Great food, spotty service written by camaleona

The dishes and ingredients are generally very good. Their tomato soup is to die for, the Troppo salad exquisite, and the Troppo burger divine. Love the downtown location and the atmosphere. That said, the service is usually not very good, which reflects poorly on a privately owned restaurant that hopes to make it downtown. Good for takeout, provided you give them plenty of time to prepare your food.

Food is delicious and extremely reasonable. The atmosphere was wonderful and very romantic. We decided to try it out as a last minute decision and we were extremely pleased with the food and service. If you are looking for an excellent meal and experience, definitely try Troppo. When we return to Lansing, we will definitely eat there.

Troppo, is not like any other place in Lansing, It is like a restraunt from Chicago or even La, It is quiet, and peacefull, the Food is very good, Hats off to the Chef, my food is always good when I go there, They have an awsome squash soap, There steaks are wonderful, ppl just have to make sure you tell your server how the steak should be done ant the chef will get it to your liking.

Relaxing written by UtahMom

My daughter and I stopped in for a light bite in the late afternoon. Service was great (it helps that her father works there) and everyone adores her. I must stop back before snowfall and thoroughly enjoy a quiet dinner with her again. I would recommend dining here to anyone from out of town looking for a charming dining experience.

Solidly Decent written by xanet

"How's the CAPITOL burger?" I asked our server. "It's good. And really big," she replied. I asked for my burger to come to me with the last of the pink fading enroute to the table (I'm a little picky, I know!). I wanted it juicy, but thoroughly cooked. Our server assured me it would not be a problem. My wife's Sesame Chicken Salad and pumpkin soup were excellent. My potato soup de jour was really salty. My burger... charred on the outside, very greasy, but I have had worse (think Harper's in E. Lansing). Oh, and it was about the smallest 1/2lb burger I've ever seen. Service was only decent, not quite up to par, though our server was very friendly. So... skip the burger and go for the salad. It's probably better for you anyway.

A wonderful find in Lansing written by owossonative

Having eaten at Troppo four times in the last 2 months, I am impressed by the quality of food. The entrees are continuously well-done and innovative, and I have come to relish the daily special entrees. The chef is superb. The service is attentive - our waiter had a wonderful sense of humor. I believe the previous reviewer did not even try this wonderful restaurant, having leftover baggage from when the former incarnation of Troppo was in East Lansing. The food is on a par with restaurants in Manhattan, Chicago and Philadelphia, but the prices are lower - appropriate for the Lansing market.

Great service and ambiance! written by kladd27

Finally, a place in Lansing that feels more like a place in Chicago! Beautiful decor, great drink menu, very warm feeling. The food is pretty good, not the best I've ever had, but for the great service and ambiance it's a good trade off!

Awesome Date Place written by goeastlansinggo

A close second behind Cadillac Club as my favorite restaurant in the county. The ambience is flawless and the food is well-prepared and well-presented. Service is occasionally spotty (especially at lunch -- my boss and several coworkers refuse to ever go there again after repeated bad experiences) but is usually fine. I only wish they'd turn the back room into a bar/club area, like the East Lansing version used to be.

p.s. -- try the cheese fondue. The best I've ever had, in my life, anywhere.

I went here when the place was new and in East Lansing.
I felt like I was in a reasonably clean frat house.
Food was ok, service was almost non-existent and the prices were outrageous.
Now they have moved downtown, why should I follow?
