Because my son was in med school at Wake Forest, we'd come from Virginia to Winston Salem to visit him. He introduced us to The Nitty Gritty one day, and from then on we looked forward to dinners there on subsequent visits. From the youngest family member to the oldest, everyone describes the meals as scrumptious. The waiters and waitresses are also very cheerful & polite, with a pleasing southern hospitality style.
My son has now finished med school and moved away from NC. However, I think we'll be finding excuses to make occasional trips to Winston Salem so that we can dine at The Nitty Gritty.
My family and I have visited this restaurant twice and we have never been disappointed. Our son is a senior student at WSSU and will be graduating during spring commencement and we have planned a family lunch with close to 50 family members attending. My wife and I can not wait to see the pleasure in their eye's when the take their first bite. The sweet tea is excellent too, just give me my personal pitcher.
Grace & Peace!
