Recently my husband I went to Kabul House for the first time and I thought it was fantastic. We eat out a lot but we know good food. The food here was full of flavor and extremely tasty. I highly recomment the half moon filled dumplings and the Kebabs. The service was prompt and very courteous. The owner is a very nice man who makes people feel as if your in his home. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some good new food.
Kabul House is a favorite casual dining place for my husband and me. The food preparation may be inconsistent from one visit to the next, but generally quite enjoyable. My favorite dish is the vegetable-rice combo, and my husband typically gets two or three kabobs, most often chicken, shami, and lamb. Service is often slow, but I think that stems from Afghan traditions of leisurely, congenial shared meals. The staff is always friendly and often chatty. The Afghan decor is lovely. (Even more so at the Chicago location.)
Service took a long time - very slow. Drinks arrived with the dessert instead of with the meal. The restaurant was half empty and so it's hard to understand the service issues. Food was average - rather greasy and not as authentic.
