We went there for dinner, and I have to say the Cinnamon Maple Vinagarette Salad (with apples, cashews, etc) was the best thing I've ever tasted! I could have just eaten the dressing it was so delicious! Also had crab cakes that I thought were some of the best I've ever tasted!
I liked the ambiance of the restaurant for evening dining, our waitress was very nice and pretty attentive.

The only complaint is that they need a bigger drink menu. Not much to offer on the wine side of things, and I think with a Tapa's (appetizer) restaurant, you have to have wine flights - offer smaller glasses of 2 or 3 wines to sample. Or even offer regular size glasses of wine in a larger variety. They only had a few on the menu, which was a little disappointing.

I'll admit, I'm writing this review based on my trip to the place in early December, when the place was still opening. Things may have changed since then- but based on my experience that day it will be a very VERY long time before I return.

Food: Overpriced; I ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad Sandwich, for $9.99, and got about a teaspoon of actual fish on the sandwich, clumped together on only one side of the two-piece sandwich. When I brought this to the server's attention I waited about 15 minutes to get another... teaspoon of actual fish. The server informed me that this is the standard amount. I can't figure out why it costs so much if they're skimping on the only plausible expensive ingredient.

Service: Slow, unattentive. The restaurant was about 40% full, and yet it was at least 10 minutes between each visit to the table, even if I was asking for a drink refill. I got the wrong side-salad and a table to my side, with a different server was experiencing the same slow service.

Atmosphere: Alright, but in my hour there I saw four people trip over the unmarked slope in the floor of the enterance. It's just not a safe idea, I can't quite describe it but if you go you'll know what I'm talking about.

Good, but not great written by bl5

Overall, I thought my experience at Tavern on the Square was a little above average, but nothing overly fantastic. I would go back, particularly to try the place at lunch, but it will most likely not be one of my regular hang outs.

Food: Some of the portions were quite generous for a tapas-style place, others were a little less than I would have liked. The food itself was fairly good (though the selections on the menu do little to complement one another). The BBQ meatballs were fantastic, but the pierogi and ravioli dishes were disappointing. The homemade doughnuts were to die for and worth coming back for. They are a must-try.

Ambiance: The restaurant was well decorated and had a good feeling to it, but it was very loud on a busy Thursday night. Definitely not a place to take people who have difficulty with loud restaurants.

Service: The service was adequate, though like many restaurants, servers were not as quick to refill waters as they are softdrinks.
