The 2008 horror film Unborn usesthe Harlo Grill as a location for a brief scene. It Appears about one hr into the film.
Such a great little bldg I had to look it up.
Didn't actually visit location, so pls disregard my rating resp.
Born in Melrose Park and spent many hours meeting and eating breakfast at Harlo. Lots of business was done there. Burgers are the best and fries like you ask, soft and soggy to burnt. Service and the crowd are always friendly. Don't let the prices fool you... Very good eating for a reasonable price. Neat and clean. I always liked that I can watch my food being cooked. Hope the Harlo stays forever!
I've been going to Harlo since I was a kid. I have since moved to Texas... The Harlo sign is my screen saver on my computer at work (if that says anything about how much I miss the place). Every time go back home, I make sure I have the triple bypass (my own creation). Ham, bacon, sausage, eggs and extra cheese... all on white toast! Order a side of EXTRA CRISPY hash browns on the side. Oh wait.. O.K. whew! It was just a small heart attack. You'll love the place!
If you truly want an experience in sociology, head to the Harlo Grill. The burgers are a bit greasy, but you can sit at the counter and have it laid in front of you on a sheet of wax paper.
Great old greasy spoon grill.
