Home made food written by

Gil's Diner is a home-style place, stuck in 1980 or so with hanging brass flower pots with artificial flowers, dated decor and plain booths and tables. Nothing fancy, not the place to take a date. But, plain food, fresh and served fairly fast. I had the home-made meatloaf, a large portion with mashed potatoes (good, not great) and carrots (somewhat overdone). The meatloaf was good, not as good as mom's, but good (and plenty of it). They have a fairly extensive menu, with many things obviously frozen. Check the specials on the menu-board, to see the daily choices, and ask to see what is home-made. The meatloaf came with soup or salad, and desert (I got the spumoni ice cream), all for about $7.
