This place is beautiful. I love the decor. The food was very good. My complaint is that when we ordered from the wine list - they didn't have a bottle opener! LOL! It was a little ridiculous for such a wonderful wine list! The service was a little slow and there were only a few patrons.

A night to remember written by rayout

A friend and I went for a tapas dinner that was a bit pricey, but amazing none the less. The shrimp scampi and vegetable rautouille were delicious. The portions were small for the $9 and $8 cost but we thought it was worth it. The lobster tail with avocado mousse was $9 and we were a bit shocked to receive only half a lobster tail (to be honest though it was the best tasting lobster, sweet perfectly cooked, that I'd ever had). Service was excellent and the waitress waited until we were finished with one dish before presenting the next.

The second time we went was for a beer tasting. This was an unbelievable value. It was a family type setting with everyone participating seated in a large group table with food passed around. For $25 per person we enjoyed 6 different beers and dinner to go with it. Each part of the meal was matched with a beer: the mussels, the roasted chicken and even the side dishes (bread with a pate/ smoked meat selection, roasted potatoes, salad, carrot and celery root with mustard vinegarette). Dessert consisted of a cheese tray and a dark chocolate tart.

I will definitely be returning to this restaurant and I recommend everyone to try it out, especially if they hold a beer/wine tasting again.

My favorite restaurant in U-C written by anonymous

The vibe is cute and laid-back. The wine list is great, but they do need to start stocking the fino sherry on the wine list: they always seem to be out of it!

Dinner menu is mostly tapas. The only clunker as far as I am concerned is the "spicy sausage in red wine sauce". It would be much nicer if they used chorizo and white wine instead of italian sausage and red wine. But otherwise, most things are downright addictive. My favorites -- the scallop with heirloom tomato on the special summer menu was phenomenal. The fried artichokes with beets are a must. As is anything they do with fig jam or confit onions. Oh, and the duck confit ravioli are world-class.

Lunch is great too -- soups, sandwiches and salads. My favorites so far are the burger and the duck sandwich with fig jam & prosciutto.

The food at Luna was (mostly) great. My only complaint was my lamb tapas was over cooked. Service wasn't fantastic -- there was only one server working the dinner shift and there seemed to be a full shift. The menu was varied -- with a good mixture of flavors and textures. A little on the pricey side, but well worth it.

The music was very loud, so be prepared. I would definately go back. The menu seems to change seasonaly, so it can be surprising what is found.

i've eaten here a few times. menu is mainly tapas-style appetizers with petite entrees. wine selection is fair, scotch selection is above average. the menu has periodic changes and additions, and is generally excellent.

i once requested a tasting menu for a valentines date, and while they don't have it on the menu or normally offer it, the chef said it would be possible. when we arrived, the waiter simply said "tell me when you've had enough!" and we were served excellent lil dishes until our bellies were full.

pricing is moderate to high, depending upon alcohol consumption. tapas, entrees, dessert, and a bottle of wine will probably run around $100. i still havent been for lunch, so i'm not sure about pricing then.

another thing of note is that the parents of luna's owners own the bread company in urbana, a fine restaurant with good sandwiches, entrees, and fondue.

the new cafe luna gelato place (same building as cafe luna) is nice too. closest thing to real italian gelato i've encountered in a while.

This place is amazing. That's all. I went there not knowing what to expect and I walked away with my jaw dropped, my stomach full of amazing food, and a pack of gum in my pocket. It was great.

Went with husband and kids. Very unique menu but still found food the kids liked. One of the best meals I've ever had in Champaign!
