For months, years actually, I have been craving Korean food and have been unfortunate enough to live in places ungraced by a decent Korean restaurant. Finally, I looked for a restaurant here in Montgomery and was intrigued by the positive reviews of Arirang. While the atmosphere was not the most romantic setting I could have hoped for, it was a lovely and pleasant place to spend our Saturday night.
With a Korean sit-com softly playing on the television screen and the waitress' son giggling along, I felt almost as if I had been invited into someone's home and offered a place at their table. The service was genuine, warm, hospitable.
And the food...it hit the spot! I am no Korean food expert, but I've had good and I've had bad. And the food at Arirang was good. We shared the BBQ pork, which has been marinated in a red chili paste. It's spicy, but delicious. While I am a big fan of the traditional kimchi, the many selections were fun to try. The fish cake was not my favorite, but I liked it more than I thought I would, while the bean sprouts and seaweed are some of my new favorites.
Overall, I was delighted by Arirang. I intend to address my Korean cravings more frequently now that I have found it!
This is my third time eating at Arirang and I'm never disappointed. The sides are excellent. What I really like about the restaurant is the service from the staff. They are so friendly and ready to explain what the dishes are and even offer "a little more" of the sides if you ask kindly. This is my number 1 choice for Korean dining in Montgomery.
The food and service was excellent. My husband and I found the ambience to be ecspecially lovely. Definatly an experience worth repeating. Well worth the money. I absoloutly loved the squid. It was very spicy! and my husband enjoyed the beef. We also enjoyed all the small appetisers. Definatly a must!
