Best steaks around written by janny1962

We had gone there several times in the past, but had not been there for a while. We always enjoyed it and this time it was fantastic. We love the new menu and the great seafood selections. I also had the grilled shrimp but mine was awesome!! My husband just kept raving about his steak and although i was only allowed a tiny bite.... it was great! Now we can't wait to go back! It gets kind of busy, but worth the wait

Alamo gets 2 thumbs down! written by omega9991

I got shrimp on a skewer-the shrimp had no seasoning, the shrimp were cold. The manager came around and apoligized and said he would make it good by giving out apetizers free and sent me out a free beer. He did take off the appetizers, but somehow managed to not send the beer. The last 3 times we have been there the food has been average at best and the service is average at best also. I will never return to this establishment. I feel I have given it a reasonable amount of chances and they don't seem to care.

Food was awful written by maryjograsl

My husband and I were at the Alamo in Mattoon for dinner on Wednesday night (3-9-05). We had the special sirloin steak with peppers and cheese. My steak was 75% grizzle. The sweet potato was very small and the lettuce was gray iceberg. I think if you are going to charge almost $12.00 for an entree--it should at least be edible. We were at the restaurant very early - around 5:00 and were the first to arrive in the dining room so there was no rush in the kitchen.
