Misaki is a great dining experience. I have been going to Misaki since it has opened, and I have been treated well every time. If you are one who has had a poor experience, I suggest you go back. When you do, you shall have a great time. If you do not have a great time don't blame Misaki. Check your ego at the door and don't write negative reviews that look poorly on downtown!
My coworkers and I eat here about once a week, and sometimes for Friday happy hours. The food is decent. I don't eat seafood, so I typically order ala carte sesame chicken, beef or chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu, or yaki niku chicken. Skip the chicken katsu, it's dry, and not good. I thought I'd give it a second shot, but after having it twice, I give it a thumbs down. The sesame chicken is always good, but it's fried, so I try to stay away from it. The beef teriyaki is really good, but they skimp on the portion and make up by giving you a big side of iceburg lettuce (aka salad), though the salad dressing is good. The chickent teriyaki is mediocre, but they give you a ton of chicken.
The display of food on the plate is sometimes inconsistent too. It varies from week to week, as does the service, which can be very SLOW. We have to pre-order for lunch to get in and out in an hour. I wish we could chose our server, because one of them never asks if we even want drinks, and just brings us water. Last time, she brought out one of my coworker's meals, which sat there for 15 min. before the rest of us got ours. They're very pollite -- I just don't think they're trained well, and not very experienced.
For lunch, the crowd is typically business people from the downtown City and County offices. The crowd for happy though, can be questionable as the night wears on. In the evening it's a mish mash of kids climbing over seats, as if at Chuckie Cheeses, business-type people, and some people with no class who speak really loudly and are just there to hang out. The beer on tap can also be inconsistent -- I don't think they know how to clean the lines and keep check on their kegs. All in all, we continue to return to this place -- why? There aren't too many places to go in downtown that have good food, good service, good atmosphere, and so on. We can't eat at the same place every day!
As is typical with Stockton...another great restaurant loses a customer! I took my boyfriend there for dinner and there was a large, loud, rude gang/thug type group seated in and near the bar area. I swear every table kept staring over there nervously and commenting. It was horrible!! I've been to Misaki twice before and really enjoyed the quiet ambiance and good food. However, I will not be returning. I seriously hope this was a rare occasion but I'm not willing to take my chances. A great place is getting ghetto!
The food was excellent! I was referred by a friend who also highly recommended this restaurant. The sushi was excellent, the service was excellent, the Sushi Chefs were fantastic and the food was reasonably price. I will go back as often as I can. If you haven't try this place out, you got to go and find out yourself. I took my girlfriend out for our anniversary. This is a great place for a romantic dinner or a family day out.
We have driven to Sacramento for the last 5 years for great Sushi until we found out about Misaki. Tony and Donnie are the best and the Sushi is incredible. We have found a wonderful place to eat and recomment this to anyone who enjoys fresh sushi as weii as great saki bombs.
There are other good sushi restaurants in Stockton and they are all on the expensive side. At Misaki, you get incredible sushi (including more roll varieties that I have ever seen), excellent service (after 4 visits they remember your name), included standards of miso soup and endamame, all in a great atmosphere! I heartily recommend their Boston Roll and Eldorado roll which are not only huge, but so good they put your tastebuds into a state of ecstasy
We went there with our 3 yr old son for Valentine's Dinner. The sushi was fresh and the servers were very attentive! It is a bit pricey, however we did pay for quality service. I will definitely dine here again with children, friends and family. Also the bartender is very experienced in mixing and serving drinks. Be sure to sake-it to the Sushi Chef!
