The side salad and anti-pasta salad are simply the best in town! The owner knows his stuff. Pick-up a menu, close your eyes and point to something on the menu, and you can't go wrong. If salads are your thing this is one place you should not miss!
A friend introduced me to this pizza place. I've been to most of the big chain stores and nothing has ever compared to The Chez (no longer in business) at 54th and Division; until now.
Those garlic knots are the best - better then cheese sticks and garlic bread/sticks. The sauces are superb. I wish they would package them up and sell them. They did give me a small sample that I put in home made pasta and - Wow - better then the store bought stuff in a jar.
The pies are delicious, especially the apple. And, Mike -the owner - likes to experiment with several varieties of tastes and sizes. He made a 'Bella Mac' personal pizza for me with thousand island dressing - it was so close to the real thing that I could have sworn it was a Big Mac.
The chocolate cake is superb although I didn't like the crust - something about dough and cake just don't go together, although the squirrels like the left over crust.
I have two favorite soups that I order for take out all the time. Chicken noodle which has more chicken then noodles and Minestrone which is full of veggies. I add a table spoon of Olive Oil to the soup when I get home and that adds a smoother taste, although each is still very good without the added touch.
And now they have a web site which makes it even easier to know what the specials are all about. www.bellamiapizzeria.com
