Restaurant Reviews of Peking Buffet
Never had a bad experience until tonight... written by

Last visited this restaurant on July 02, 2007
We have been eating at the Peking Buffet for years. The food, service, and value for the money have always been top notch.
We arrived at 9:20pm on 7/2/07. The restaurant closes at 10:00. We were promptly and politely greeted. I asked the waitress if we were too late and she assured me that there was plenty of time to eat. She got our drinks and I made my way to the buffet. The wonton soup was almost empty but I was able to draw a bowl. Only a few eggrolls but I got one. No plum sauce but oh well. I also snagged one of the last crab rangoons (always my reason for going). Upon return to the table my girlfriend left our daughter in my care and made her way. One of the staff came to the table and told me that If there was anything we wanted but didn't see to let him know and he would prepare it for us. I took my first spoonful of soup and almost choked. It was so salty that I could barely swallow it. I moved on to the eggroll and found that it was ice cold and spongy. Meanwhile my girlfriend returned from the buffet empty handed and stated that nothing there looked edible and she was ready to leave.
I told the waitress that we were unhappy with the food and wanted our check. She brought us a bill for two buffet dinners and drinks. I told her that we only had our drinks and one plate of food, which was not eaten. She took the bill away and yelled something across the restaurant, presumably in Chineese, to the man at the register. I walked over to him and politely told him that after eating the salty soup and the cold eggroll I had lost my appetite. I asked him to charge me whatever he felt was fair. He said $3.00 for the drinks. I paid him. On our way out the door he told us that we have no right to show up so late and then complain about the food.
The Peking Buffet has treated me very well in the past. Their food is normally very good, especially the crab rangoons. I suspect they may have recently changed management as I did not recognize some old familiar faces.
I would recommend the Peking Buffet as a good value, but approach with caution. I will not return.
