I have been to Coney Island on many occasions for lunch and dinner. Love the "dogs" with all of the toppings and the dinners are great! Plenty of food with good pricing. I usually bring a book along and read for hours with plenty of coffee refills. I have never had anyone ever complain about my reading or length of stay. Everyone is always friendly and polite. Breakfast is the next thing I'm going to try. Love the place!
All my friends love Grand Coney. We feel as comfortable there as we do at home. The atmosphere is so stress free and chill. My roommate usually orders the chili, and coneys. I prefer cheese fries with real melted cheese (best thing ever). Cute little desert station. Fun to see the regulars around the bar. Great late night eats. In fact, we're going again tonight. It's a diner, and it revels in it's diner-ness. Try the volcano cake.
I just got done reading the reviews of our restaurant. I have to say that I have NEVER confronted a customer about not tipping. I have however had employee chase a customer out to the parking lot, and she was told that under no circumstances would that be tolerated. I know that I have yelled at my employees at times, but anyone of my employees will tell you that there isn't anything I wouldn't do for them. This is why 95% of my employees have been with me over 2 years. So Jim I'm sorry you were here on one of my bad days. I'm only human.
I have been going to the Coney for a couple years now. I know most of the staff, and The food is great, same with waitresses. The Owner however. She should step back and remember the costumers are paying her bills. The way she treats her staff is uncalled for. I have seen her yell at her staff right in front of me. The Co-owner Chris is a great guy, helps you when needed, when he talks to you he doesn't talk to you like he wants everything in your wallet. Also. About 6 months ago Jamie yelled at a costumer for not tipping. I Live off of tips also and go by if you cant afford a tip then you cant afford to go out to dinner, but to yell at a costumer? uncalled for. Over all a good place to get a good cheap dinner.. But beware of the owner. She'll chase you into the parking lot if you dont tip!
Have been a customer for lunch a half dozen times and for breakfast about the same.
For lunch, the coney dogs are great. Have tried both the "Flint" and the "Detroit" versions. Both are exellent, but prefer the "Detroit" best.
For breakfast, the "Traditional" is hard to beat. Through the week, you can't get a better breakfast in town for $2.95. I usually get two eggs over easy, bacon, hashbrowns with onions, and rye toast.
Every time I've been in the Grand Coney, service has been exceptional with a very short wait for food.
The atmosphere is similar to a 50's diner and very clean.
I plan on returning many more times for breakfast and lunch. I am also planning on trying their dinner specials in the near future.
