The Istanbul Cafe was a great dinning choice for our group. We had never been there before so all of the food was exciting to taste. The owner of the cafe was our server and that was nice to see someone take pride in their establishment and not just sit behind a desk. The atmosphere was great with the belly dancer dancing around my wife was having so much fun she even got up and was learning to belly dance from the dancer. The cafe also had some very nice real oil paintings to set the mood for the event not just the same old boring prints you see at all the other restaurants in town. All in all I would recommend this restaurant to any one who doesn't want to eat the same old, same old you get everywhere els in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful food, served by the owner himself. No American favorites on the menu, so be prepared to broaden your horizons. Try babaganush, doner kebob, or anything on the menu - you won't be disappointed. Come on Saturday night for some belly dancing
And the coffee is more than great, served Turkish style. It's awesome
I'm used to seeing this place bustling, but I guess our early Saturday lunch followed a large party. They were just clearing up when we sat down, the only people in the place. As always, the service was friendly, cheerful...charming. The food arrived promptly. A lovely smooth hummus seasoned just right, with fresh hot flatbread. Lentil soup, the usual special, is still special, though a bit bland. A few more herbs? Two of us are stuck on the adona kebob and didn't deviate. The donor kebab is excellent as well. Ask for the special red pepper -- it's not spicy and sprinkles over everything for a nice boost of flavor. Dessert we simply couldn't do since portion sizes are on the generous side. On our way out the door, we were invited back for the Friday or Saturday belly dancing. That would be a better time to enjoy the dessert menu -- and the rich, thick Turkish coffee.

aybey bey
