Terrible! written by

The food on the buffet looked like it had been sitting there all day. It tasted worse! Items that were gone were never refilled either. It was also way over priced! The restaurant also looked very dirty. There was flies everywhere. I don't have anything good to say about this place! I will never eat there again!!

Lamai's kitchen is overpriced, and not even close to the best Thai food in Lansing. Definitely not worth the price. They charge extra for rice! (which should come WITH the meal to begin with)!!
There is a buffet every day for $9.50 and the food is pretty gross - old and crusty and has been sitting out for hours.
For the best Thai food in Lansing, at affordable prices, go to Bangkok House on the corner of Cedar St. and Saginaw Hwy. yummmmm

Lamai's food is simply the best. I eat lunch here regularly. The buffet always has a great selection. The fresh spring rolls are fantastic, soup is delicious, and tapioca pudding with coconut milk tops of the meal. Hard to understand the negative reviews here. I've only been to 3 Thai restaurants in the U.S. that compare. Why a 10 for ambiance? Yes, it's a dive, but talking to Lamai brightens my day.

Come on. She sells Pad Thai by the pound. Are you kidding me? I've worked in some really classy restaurants and i'll tell you that whatever kind of sanitation problems homegirl under me thought she saw, happen in any restaurant you've ever been in. Get over it. Don't order from the menu. The buffet is kickin'.

i really did not like the food here and i'm very open minded and forgiving when it comes to my dining experiences, but this was a really unappealing place to eat. the ambience is dingy and i found, at least, a dozen drowned fruit flies in the sauce condiment caddy. i was pretty grossed out and lost my appetite immediately. i was extremely disappointed in this place after hearing that it was *supposedly* good.
unless there's some serious renovation and change in sanitation policy at this place i will not go back.

The atmosphere is Mom and Pop Diner , and the service is good, as the staff consists of 3-4 people at the busiest times -
Casual, Casual , Casual -
total seating is 20- 25 people more of a cafe really.
And the buffet is the way to go for first timers, or everytime for me as it includes almost every item on the menu....
The reviews below are crazy as I have never had bad food at Lamai's -- and as far as authenticity ... this place is real Thai food and the Pad Thai is the best in Lansing -
NOT commercial and definately not fancy .. just the best.
Think shorts and sandals, not suit and tie---

Lamai's is the most authentic Thai food around! She has a buffet every day (highly recommended). The Thursday buffet is vegetarian and the Friday buffet is seafood. You can also order off the menu. She was located in Lansing's Old Town for several years, but relocated to Michigan Ave. about 1 year ago after a short break.

I completely agree with the review below. I saw the rating 10 down below but extremly disappointed with the food there. We went for a buffet but really, there isn't really a thing that tastes good. The rice and the other itesm are not upto the mark.. I would not go to that place again.

My husband and I would not recommend this restaurant. We ordered Chicken Satay taste like deep fried and the peanut dip doesnt taste like peanut? The soup appetizer taste like its from the can. Our main dish is not authentic at all. The server was coughing the whole time we are there and I didn't see her washing her hands while covering her mouth to cough. We are charge $40.00 for our dinner. We just had a dinner in a very nice-popular restaurant last week and we paid almost the same with excellent food. I respect the business being independently own but if the food and service are terrible, who would want to go back or even recommend.
