My family and I decided to eat here tonight, on a whim. My first clue to how terrible it was going to be should have been when we pulled in the parking lot, and it was empty. We decided to give it a try anyways. The food was dry, hard, old. It was hot, but no where near edible. I will say that the garlic bread was amazing, as well as the ice cream. The roasted mushrooms were burnt to the bottom of the pan. There was a tray labeled "Chicken Strips" that housed some sort of chicken nugget, I think. Another labeled "Onion Rings" had 3 onion rings, about 8 fries, and some flat, fried things that were unidentifiable. I wont go again, food was barely edible, ambiance sucked, And here I sit hungry and angry...
I eat here an average of 2 times a week! Their buffet is the one thing it has going for it. Their food tastes good, but can't compare to some higher end Chinese restaurants. The service is fine, but I have had issues with their take-out in the past. I usually order General Tso's chicken and sometimes it is undercooked. Once I had to return my food to them when I ordered Beef and Broccoli because the meat was almost raw!
The ambiance of the place is kinda boring! This is one of the things I don't like about the restaurant. They used to have music, but the stopped that. Just recently they started playing music again, but it is really cheesy Chinese music; quite boring! Other than that the buffet is worth the price, bring a friend with you if you are going to eat here.
i like how the people that run the place write a review about themselves. just wanted to throw that out there.
When family visits from Grand Rapids - we always eat there! They like it better than any they've been to there!
We visit China King with other family that live here or just us at least once a week! They know us so well - we don't even have to order our drinks - they know automatically! And where else do you get a FREE beverage included? You do there if you order hot tea!!
Surprising quality Chinese in South Lansing. This is the only Chinese restaurant my friends and I go to now (and I've tried them all looking for something that compared to the big city style I'm use to in NYC, Dallas, etc...). I really recommend checking this place out. The buffet features a lot of unique options, and everything is always hot.
We tried this new Chinese buffet as it was recommended and it was very clean and the food was very fresh and hot with a lot of options on the buffet. You can add crab legs to the buffet for an additional $1. We did not choose to do so as there was so many options. The price was reasonable and we will visit again.
