I researched Yiannis in the restaurant guides. It was said that it was the best kept secret in Rochester. That the prices were reasonable and the food was terrific. We went there expecting an Italian restaurant atmosphere. I was very excited to go with my boss there for lunch. Upon entering we stood by the hostess station waiting. When the hostess finaly greeted us it was without a smile or hello. Once seated, the waitress(no smile)hurried us through our order. The food was salty, the french fries tasted like the calamari(fishy and we didn't have fish),no background music at all, and no italian food is on lunch menu (except fishy tasting calamari) Atmosphere was blah with bad lighting. I was expecting unique and got less than mediocre. I would not return there nor recommend this restaurant! I only get to have a thank you lunch from my boss once in a while, and I am sorry I wasted my lunch on bad food and bad service.
Terrific food; very reasonable prices. A must see! Relatively small and quite busy - but well worth the wait. Very friendly wait staff. Owner generally on premises.
