We grew up having US 31 Barbeque as a special treat and when I come back "home" it is one of the first places I head. The sandwiches are still worth the trip and my children agree. They say it is the sauce served on any of the sandwich choices and the milkshakes which are made from real ice cream, not the soft serve most places use. The atmosphere is very casual, but the service has always been good. I will be going back.

I have lived in Muskegon as a child and when ever I return to visit, I always stop and have a meal here or I will order for take out. I travel all over the mid atlantic states and there is no better BBQ than what you get here.
They will always be my favorite

My parents grew up in Muskegon and ate at U.S. 31. They moved to Flint where I grew up. Whenever we visited relatives in Muskegon we always ate there. They are both deceased, but whenever I fly from my home in California back to Michigan I always drive across the state to eat at the best pork sandwich restaurant there is... U.S. 31.

This is a hometown favorite, simple fare for Muskegon folk, you would be surprised how my entire mainland family will drive across the state just to have their ham, pork, or beef BBQ. Still closed on Sundays I assume.
Me I'm planning on going when I return from my home in Hawai`i. In fact, my taste buds got my mouth watering enough to think about them for a week prior, hunt this site up on the 'net, and write this review.
Ono in my opinion, this place 'broke da mouth' still after 40 years
