I only ordered 3 bubble tea. 1 kiwi, 1 strwbry,1 strwbry kiwi. They made 2 kiwi's & gave me 3 other COFFEE-like. i had to pay for all of it. which was $14.50
I went there and found a vibrating massager on the seat, a lot of suspicious costumes, loads of pictures of girls that were slightly suggestive, and a mechanical bull that according to the owner was "for females." I gotta say, this place was VERY fishy.
The bubble tea I got was ok, though...
I love Udon Sushi Bakery. My girlfriend lived in Japan and she says it reminds her of all the little noodle shops there. The seating is cramped, but the food is authentic and delicious. If you want to try REAL asian food, not the americanized version, check this place out.
Usually he likes to hold pretty girls' hands and tell them their fortune. A little bit erotic. And he is a bad at calculating. There is no receipt, and he ripped me off by several dollars sometimes. So be careful when he charged you next time. Don't be cheated, and be smart.
you will get the best bubble tea here, maybe in all of MI. i have lived in SF, NYC, CHI, & BOS, this place comes the closest to anyting i've had in those cities. the crap they serve at bubble island doesn't even compare. this place is fantastic. nice chill atmosphere, friendly servers, eclectic crowd.
After living in Chicago for five years and spending the last nine months in Asia (including Japan), I can say without hesitation that the Udon Sushi Bakery has some of the best, if not the best, ramen and udon noodle soups I have ever tasted. I used to live above this restaurant in college and make it a priority to visit whenever I return to Lansing. For the reviewer who said the "owner never smiles", your wrong. Perhaps he just didn't like you because your a finleys type of person? I've seen him smile to hundreds of guests and have never seen him show a foul mood. IM not a fan of the bubble tea, or bubble tea in general, but many seem to be so it may be worth a try if you have not already. With all of the generic chain restaurants (or just flat out bad) in Lansing, the Udon Sushi Bakery is most certainly not one of them. If you enjoy Asian food, I strongly urge you to disregard the negitive comments and visit this place immediately! PS: as for the packaged noodle comment- please note that there are very very few places, italian included, that make their noodles fresh. It just is what it is, sorry you feel so slighted.
so first off let me say, this place does not really serve authentic japanese or korean food. the ramen and black bean noodles are the 95 cent packaged ramen noodles you buy at the store, but they serve it in a boiling pot w. a few other vegetables with makes the soup look heartier, but isnt really worth the $4 or $5 that you pay.. the udon is alright, but again they overcharge - not that its expensive at all but i mean you can buy it & make it at home for 1/2 the price. this place is like the original bubble tea place in lansing, and ive always enjoyed it although people complain about the authenticity of tea.. its a commercialized drink, what do you expect?
they dont have a bakery or any sushi except for california rolls which is generally simple to make. the place is enjoyed by most of the people who go there for the atmosphere more so than the food. its just easy packaged cheap comfort food.. not that its bad at all but the people who are actually going on about how great the food is, you must not go out at all.
I was very disappointed at the Udon Sushi. Bad service. The guy who works there doesn't smile. Don't take credit card. And the bubble tea is just AWEFUL! It's NOT real juice at all, just some artificial color+artificial spice. The food is just so so, not authentic.
Will never go there again. :(
This place serves authentic Japanese food, so be prepared if you're used to eating at Americanized restaurants. I've had California rolls there (unauthentic I know, but hey I went for the bubble tea) and they were DELICIOUS. But the main reason I go there is for the Bubble Tea. They have about 30 different flavors and the bubbles have a nice texture. They're also much bigger bubbles than the ones at Bubble Island, and the drinks are much bigger and taste a lot better. I used to go there at least once a week I loved the bubble tea so much! So the next time you're craving Bubble Tea you should DEFINITELY go to Udon.
This place isn't for everyone-- I'll say that right off. To someone that is new to Japanese and Korean food, it can be pretty intimidating. The reason it's intimidating, though, is because it's the closest thing that one can get to being in a small family-owned restaurant in Japan. Friends who've been to Japan love it for this reason. The menu is very widely varied and features many different types of traditonal Japanese and Korean food, not just sushi (though their sushi rolls are great!) They only take cash and the restaurant is very small, but it's always worth it. They also have the best bubble tea in town, far better than Bubble Island.
