Restaurant Reviews of Portable Feast
Love these salads written by

I love sitting outside on the sidewalk and people watching while I eat. The salads are GREAT -- interesting tastes, light rice-wine-vinegar-based dressing on one I tasted -- cold salmon and wild greens. My friend had a salad with chicken that was also good. Desserts are terrific, and coffee is strong and worth savouring. Friendly real people as servers. Very Old Town. Very sweet.

Do NOT eat here! written by

Rude, unprofessional service. And this was from the owner of the restaurant! I've visited Portable Feast twice and eaten there once. Both visits have been disappointing at best. The second time resulted in leaving the place before we even ordered. After waiting 15 minutes to order, with later-arriving patrons being attended to before us, the owner approached our table with pad and pencil in hand. I remarked that we were just getting ready to leave because we had waited so long for service, to which Ms. Hind snapped, "Well, are you leaving?" We did. I left a $5 bill to pay for two sodas and we left. We will NOT return. You deserve better service and professionalism than this. Go up the street to Mama Bear's.

Old Town has a gem in The Portable Feast. The staff is fun and friendly, great daily specials, all fresh food, no fried, greasy stuff.
Love the mushroom brie soup. Portable also caters events so if you are looking for great food for clients, this is it! I have clients that come for morning meetings because they know I will have Portable Breakfast Burritos for them!

I want to love this place. It's in Old Town, it's not a corporate chain staffed by bratty teenagers, they use good ingredients. But the food is just bland every time I go. I could barely choke down their quiche--it was flat, dry, and tiny. They could take a few pointers from the Spotted Dog, whose quiche is bigger, cheaper, and a thousand times better. The salad was pretty good but not memorable. I haven't tried their baked goods, which look exquisite, and I'm willing to give the place a few more tries--but the quiche makes me shudder...
