I am a huge fan of Indian Food. The Tandoor is bar-none my favorite restaurant in Toledo. Although I have found few of my friends or family that share my unique tastes, I reccommend that everyone try it. A suggestion may be to go Tuesday Through Friday during the day to the buffet, (I think the hours are 11-3) to sample a bit of different dishes. If you can't make those hours, a good "starter" dish is Curry Chicken. That is to Indian food like Sweet and Sour Chicken is to Chinese and Thai. Also, I would suggest you initially order everything mild until you have an understanding for what "hot" indian food is about. It is not comparable in any way to mexican food "hot" (which most Americans are familiar with). The atmosphere is fantasitc, especially for a romantic evening and the staff is always more than willing to explain anything from the Umbrellas on the ceiling to the music being played or what a "Tandoor" is. Worth trying out!!!!
My goal is to introduce my children to all types of foods. This was our first time eating Indian food and it wasn't a hit with the kids. We told our server it was our first time and asked for suggestions. She was more than willing to help us with our order. Our appetizers were on the table quickly, but the main course was slow to arrive. The food was served hot.
This is a small restaurant and the atmosphere was pleasant. Overall, we don't know if we didn't like this particular restaurant or just Indian food in general. The food presentation is not good, it all looks the same. It doesn't look appetizing and we didn't care for the flavors or spices. After eating Indian food here, we don't think we will try it again.
The Tandoor is such a great atmosphere to eat in. It is a pretty small restaurant, but it didn't seem to be overly full when I dined there on a saturday night. I cannot say enough how beautiful a place it is to eat in there. It isn't overly tacky like most Indian and Chinese places I have dined at, but it seems to be absolutely perfect.
The service was pretty good.
I had their lamb curry, my sister had their shrimp tandoori (which was so good I'll probably order that next time) and her husband had their chicken curry. The rice was pretty good, except I didn't like how much cumin was in it. Cumin is good to have with Indian food because it does help digest it better, but too much cumin is a distraction to me.
Their Naan is excellent!
I would definately go back there again
