Restaurant Reviews of La Senorita Mexican Restaurant
Holy Tamale! written by

The atmosphere was very authentic, it feels Mexican at the door. I went on a Saturday night and the wait was only about 7 min. Everything on the menu sounded delicous, and they serve free chips and salsa. One of the salsas was absolutely amazing, but the other was on the bland side of the flavor spectrum. I ordered the tamales. They were absolutely great. I would recomend them to any tamale lover. Plus, the portions are monsterous, great for taking home and having for lunch the next day. Definetly one of my favorite Mexican places!

Bland. Very bland. written by azraelle

I'm always on the lookout for good Mexican food, but our experience at La Senorita was less-than-stellar. First of all, the service was really lacking and it took forever for our server to greet us and take our order. Yes, the restaurant was rather busy at the time so I'll cut her some slack, but it was an annoyance nonetheless.
Our chips seemed stale, but the salsa verde was quite good. I ordered the chile rellenos and was extremely disappointed. Not only were they cold, but they were also very bland. I also didn't enjoy the rice because it had corn in it, which I think is just wrong.
There are much better Mexican restaurants in Lansing, and I definitely will not be returning to La Senorita. Adios!
Edit (4/29/08) - To answer the other reviever who questioned if I had ever dined at a real Mexican restaurant, I'm from California and grew up in a community that was 80% Hispanic. I also spent about 2 years living in Texas. So, yes, I have definitely been to a real Mexican restaurant. I love authentic Mexican cuisine, and I know when I've been served a bland meal. La Seniorita is not real Mexican food. My food was cold, bland, and not worth my time or money. Anyone who thinks the food at this restaurant is authentic or even edible is one who hasn't been to a real Mexican restaurant.

Try the lunch specials! written by Jaye

After reading a rather scathing review above, I've decided to defend one of my favorite haunts by touting their wonderful lunches. I've never been to "La Sen" for dinner, but when out shopping, I'll stop for a refresher usually around 11am. The friendly, dark haired waitress always remembers me with a smile. I've found her to be prompt & efficient. Never botching an order or "over waiting me to death". I always sit on the bar side, near the free chips, salsa & TV. I arrive, make my own blend of the three salsas, munch chips and take full advantage of the Amber Dos Equis happy hour drink special until my food comes to the table. Their "Hot Wings" are outstanding. I must emphasize that I get there when business is slow and I usually have the place to myself! As far as the "Bland" reviews go...Ever been to a real Mexican Restaurant? Mother didn't like them either because she was used to "Tex-Mex" which don't really allow you to taste the "star ingredients". She liked Taco Bell where everything tastes kinda the same...Just the presentation changes.
