When I was a kid, my mother and I would go to Jon's Country Burger for their Onion Rings. Yum. That was almost 30 years ago. Sad to say, I had not been there in years. I didn't even know they were still open. Then one day some co-workers wanted to go there for breakfast. I couldn't believe it. Jon's is STILL OPEN. WOW! Now you know - if a place has been there that long, they must be good. It's like visiting an old friend again. I'm so glad I found out they're still there. The food is awsome. I have never been dispointed with anything on their menu. I'm finding myself wanting to go their more often. South Lansing really needs a nice place to just sit, relax and enjoy good simple food without the fancy dim lights of so many restaurants in town. Thanks Jon's for such great food and fun.
Jon's Country Burger is a great little diner on the south side of Lansing. I love this place because although the decor is not the most updated, it's really cute. Its got the phone-in booths, and you can still park at the stands outside and have your food brought out to you. Plus, the food is outstanding. My favorite for lunch is the country burger basket..mmmmm. They also serve a great breakfast. The omelets and the french toast are out of this world. For dessert, the donut sundae is a popular menu item. But I think the best item on the menu is Denver's custard pie. I have tried many times to duplicate it and can't even come close. He makes a great coconut cream too. Basically, everything I have ever tried (and I've been going there for a long time) has been excellent.
