Don't Waste Your Money written by

My husband and I haven't been to Jack's in the Holiday Inn in a few years so we decided to go there on a weeknight for a quiet dinner. What a disappointment!
The servers seemed very disinterested and very uninformed about the menu and/or specials of the evening. They seemed to stand around in groups ignoring customers waiting patiently at the tables. I realize that many of them are probably college students, but come on now. Wearing ratty t-shirts that looked very sloppy and ignoring your customer is not going to get you a very good tip. While you're standing around you might want to grab a carpent sweeper and clean up a little - the place seemed a little "not so clean" either.
It's the little things that stick in your mind of lousy service such as ordering a beer and not being offered a glass, not filling bread baskets, asking if you'd like coffee or being told what the evening specials are examples we encountered.
We received food that was not what we ordered and sent it back so it took twice as long to actually get the correct meals. It was not a pleasant experience that night.
The Jack's of yesteryear is gone. It used to be a classy place that you would go to for special events or a special evening but not anymore in my opinion. You can have linen tablecloths and napkins, but you can't hide the fact that the service and the quality of food is substandard. At least the view was lovely. What a shame.........

Mashed potatoes were cold, fish was overcooked and mushy and fishy tasting, rolls were overbaked and hard, waffle fries were fried so hard you could hardly bite them. Atmosphere was good, but you can't eat that.View was not an option as it is winter and dark outside. Summertime it is nice.

Great food, great view, great atmosphere all at a very fair price. One of the nicest places for dinner in the Grand Haven area...
