I have tried sushi at many places in Dayton and while they all were good, Akashi is by far the best. The service is great and the food is spectacular. If there is someone in your group who "doesn't eat sushi" (whatever!), there are many other items on the menu they can choose from. The sushi chefs are awesome and will prepare almost anything you ask for. You owe it to yourself to go to Akashi!

I've eaten sushi all around the U.S. and this tops them all. Really, it's great!
Red Snapper, yellowtail, fatty tuna! Damn good! I've found a restraunt and service that I will go back to for the rest of my life. Thank you akashi for catering to my favorite addiction! I LOVE AKASHI!!!
Me and a few of my co-workers (usually anywhere from 5 to 12 of us) eat here at least once every two weeks, and it is amazing. Their handrolls are delicious, their sushi is fresh and consistent everytime we go. It is fairly priced and the soup and salad are amazing. Even for non-sushi eaters, the rest of the menu is filled with fair priced items that are huge in portion. The staff is friendly and prompt, the atmopshere is clean and relaxed. I would suggest anyone to go there-you won't be disappointed.
Akashi is our first choice for authentic Japanese cuisine in Dayton. Service is almost always excellent. When the kitchen is busy, the dining room crowded, the wait is sometimes a bit long, but the whole staff is so enthusiastic that it rarely detracts from the visit. The food is always just excellent from sashimi to soft shell crab. It's wonderfully authentic and the chefs artistry is superb. For Saké, we don't have to ask for a specific brand, because we know the house saké will be an excellent choice.
Overall we rate Akashi a 10. Any loss in points on service due to length of wait, are more than made up for in ambiance, and enthusiasm from the whole staff.

I live less than 5 miles from Akashi and eat there frequently. It is affordable, and great tasting sushi.
Between my husband and I we have tasted most of the things on the menu and have not yet been disappointed. The waitresses are friendly, and will offer suggestions for new sushi eaters.
We have never sat at the sushi bar- although the option is avaible.
My only complaint is slow drink refills, there has never been any problems with the food at all. It is devine!
I've been told the dining room gets smoky later at night, but we always eat early and it is quite and a good environment.
I definetly recommend Akashi.
