Restaurant Reviews of Everyday People Cafe

You Have to Understand the Scene-EPC written by biglakestyle
Last visited this restaurant on August 21, 2008

We have been dining at Everyday People Cafe for several years and there is nothing better. You have to understand and "get" the scene. It is filled with summer people/local VIPs/beautiful people (more boys than girls)and you do not come here just to dine; you come to immerse yourself in the local culture. Talking on a cellphone will get some stares; they don't do it there. The food is very creative and the staff attentive and informed. Great live music on many weekend nights. If all you want is to eat, go to Outback.

Great restaurant over all! written by malex62

Coming from Chicago to visit our farm regularly on weekends, this is one of our favorite places. Yes, at times, the host and staff can be a bit stuffy, but the food and service have been consistantly very good. We ate at the new place across the street and liked it the first time, but DID NOT the second. EDP is still my favorite in the area. As for the people and reviews stating the menu is "limited" and they prefer MCDonalds's, this fine dining establishment IS NOT FOR YOU! This has nothing to the food or restaurant, it has to do with preference. Those folks are better off at KFC, applebees', Chili's and such, I'll keep coming here!! Means, more room for those who appreciate good food.

Walleye, Pinot Noir, and Barry written by seastate
Last visited this restaurant on November 05, 2007

I travel a lot, much of it to out-of-the-way places in the middle of empty landscapes. All to often, an Applebee's is top of the line. Luckily, this trip, I found myself BACK (my third visit) to EPC. The trick when alone, I think, is to drink and eat at the bar. You see and hear everything, and the service is one-stop-shopping. Anyway, last evening, I placed myself in the care of Barry the bartender, who brought me an excellent salad with a basil-based dressing. What do i mean by excellent? Crisp, fresh, appropriately selected greens with thin cucumber, with the dressing almost hand-painted on each layer. Then the house special - a delicate, crumbling sauteed walleye wrapped (coiled?) around a bed of rice and (I think) artichokes. To cap it off, the couple next over offered me a swig of Laphroiag. Total cost? Less than $35. Fantastic!!

Pompous waiter written by rkmoss

As we're preparing to travel back to the Saugatuck condo we like to much, I was browsing online to see if any new restaurants opened in the area. I'm reminded of our horrible waiter last year at the Everyday People Cafe. With several different beers on the menu, I asked my waiter if he could recommend one, he gave me an incredulous look, and actually said, "ME, drink BEER?" as if I asked him if he swallowed aquarium water. Well, to the pompous wine-sipping staff, I say, "I won't be coming back this year!"

Not for Everyday written by krazyfroglady

While on vacation, had dinner at this cafe. We were very disappointed in the service and limited menu. The place was decorated cute but the prices were extremely high and the service was less than average. The noise level was so loud that my friend and I had to shout across the table to be heard--conversation was not possible. While our waitress ran her legs off waiting on a party of 10 and the rest of her tables, two waiters sat down to visit with a table of two. We sat and sat , unattended , waiting to be asked if we needed anything. The food was average although presentation was gorgeous, but different isn't always better. The menu was very limited and we were never asked our seating preference (we wanted to sit where there was music or at least quiet!! they seated us at a table in the corner of the front room by a huge party that was so loud our time spent there miserable , we couldn't wait to get out of there! We have crossed this restaurant off our list and will not go back.

The best in Saugatuck/Douglas area!!! written by LPC
Last visited this restaurant on September 02, 2006

My husband and I own a summer home in Saugatuck so we are there quite often. We have tried many restaurants (Blue Moon, Chaps, Copper Grill, etc.) to name a few, but after trying the others, we always end up going back to Every Day People Cafe.

This is the #1 restaurant that we recommend to our friends who come to the area to visit. The quality of food and its presentation is like being in one of the top restaurants in Chicago, but fortunately, does not have the price tag to go with it.

Honestly, go and try it, and I promise you that you will not be disappointed or rather, you will be back for more!

They've also added a bar with a fireplace in the back which adds to the ambiance of the place. Don't make the simple look from the outside fool you. It's awesome!!!

LOUSY FOOD, PRETENTIOUS PLACE written by denissy
Last visited this restaurant on August 02, 2006

I hated this place and definitely would NOT recommend it to anyone. It's overpriced, snobby, pretentious, and worst of all, the food is NOT GOOD. The menu is loaded with selections that have been deliberately designed to impress you, unusual sauces, non-standard combinations put together to impress, but when you get the food, it tastes lousy. The patrons didn't impress me either. They looked like pretentious yuppy wanna-be's and the table near us was filled with VERY DRUNK, extremely loud (I mean SCREAMINGLY LOUD) people. YUCK!!! I say, forget this dump, I'd rather eat at Micki-Dee!!!

We had the Drunken Shrimp appetizer and it was awesome!! The vegetable cassoulet was also very good as well as the Tortilla Soup. The food is of the highest quality and the prices are what you would expect for a restaurant of this quality. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting the Douglas/Saugatuck area.

As always, Everday People never disappoints. I have been dining there for several years, during the latter part of the season. The food is consistently excellent, imaginative & beautifully presented. The juxtaposition of flavors & textures has always been superb, whether for dinner or simple breakfast or lunch. It is always a quite pleasurable experience.

My mom works at E.P.C and even thought there's lots of foods i'm not familiar with I still enjoy the breakfast that my mom always brings me home. The people are very nice too and they make you feel welcome. i think E.P.C is the best restaurant downtown and in Douglas
