I would drive by Dagwood's and was always strangely drawn to it. Finally on my 21st birthday, I made it my first stop. It was love at first buzz. The people that work there are friendly, entertaining and they make you feel like family. The food is good old bar food; great burgers and fries and some amazing oddities like fried olives and pickles (yum!). You can tell that every thing is made with extra love. The bar has a great selection for how small it is and everything is reasonably priced (sometimes $1 cans of beer). It is decked out with a bunch of flat screens for the sports lover and Open Mic Night brings in wonderful local talent for those looking for live entertainment. My favorite thing about Dag's, what has made me a regular now for over three years, is the mixed group of fantastic people. At anytime there will be men and women, young and old, all just enjoying spirits and each other. It is the only bar I have ever felt comfortable going to by myself. I know that every time I go there will be a friend (brand new or old) at Dagwood's to relax, vent, or just be silly with.
Dagwood Tavern is a great place to get cheep beer. I think pitchers were $4 on a Wednesday night when I was there. Sit at the bar and watch the cook make your food (or clean the grill if you stay late enough). The bartenders were very friendly and attentive; they made me feel like a regular my first time at the bar. You can really find some classic songs on the Jukebox.
If you're looking for a small bar with cheap beer and attentive service, Dagwood Tavern is the place to go. I will definitely return at the next chance I get.
I've been to Dagwood's several times and it never disappoints. These simple burgers wrapped in wax paper with a basket of fries and served in a blue collar bar are some of the best curgers in town.
