The food was wonderful! We started the meal with calamari which was not fried. Instead it was cooked in a light tomato sauce with green onions and other spices. This was also served with fresh pita bread. I was told by my friend that I HAD to try the Ispanak. I had never had falafel before so I wasn't sure but it was wonderful! Three falafel cakes covered in a rich, creamy mango-walnut-garlic sauce with green peppers, onions and spinach. I asked for no mushrooms but it normally comes with them too. On the side was a small plate of aromatic basmati rice cooked to perfection. The restaurant has a nice Mediterranean feel to it and the wait staff made us feel comfortable right away. The service was quick and efficient and the full bar took care of my craving for a Grey Goose and tonic and my friend's red wine. I have already informed my friend that we will be eating at Café Gulistan every time I come into town.
