Where to Eat When Enjoying Elberta Beach written by Thad

Last visited this restaurant on July 06, 2007
I try to meet up with friends in Michigan (my home state; currently live in San Francisco Bay Area) to go to Elberta Beach each summer, as I have done for 30+ years. Since its' opening, The Cabbage Shed is where we always eat. The view, food (have never been disappointed), personalized service and ambiance are all highly enjoyable, and are a perfect compliment to the incomparable beach experience. To me, The Cabbage Shed/Elberta Beach experience is better than anything I have found in California. yup.

This used to be a favorite place of my families. We do not eat there anymore. Recent changes to the "shed" in order to draw in a more wealthy customer base have left the locals a little miffed. Food used to be fantastic with a little of everything on the menu. Prices have jumped quite a bit and the menu has been cut substantially! We used to love their pasta but they no longer offer that. The shed was better off the way it was several years ago.
We used to love to spend our saturday night at the cabbage shed, dancing to the live music and having a drink, or two, but now there is no live music offered and last call is at midnight. Not a very pub like atmosphere if you ask me. I give this restaurant a poor review...coming from someone who eats out OFTEN, there are much better places to dine in Benzie County!

Wonderful hidden gem in NW lower peninsula written by

If you're looking for a one of a kind experience in the NW lower peninsula, look no further than "The Shed". It has a wonderful rustic feeling with lots of worn wood inside and a well used dance floor for local/regional bluegrass, folk, american roots, and old time music on weekends (check the schedule or call ahead for shows, not every weekend has music). The Cabbage Shed has the best atmosphere in Elberta.
The food is wonderful and filling after a hard day at the beach or tromping through the woods. Always tasty
