  Finally, Piedmont Avenue in Oakland is blessed with an outstanding Japanese grill and shushi restaurant. Aki Sushi & Grill (3953 Piedmont Ave., Oakland.). We've been there many times now, and we're impressed. The dangerous thing is that it's within walking distance from our house. We've made Friday nights our sushi night out. And last night I took a minor departure and tried the fish katsuo. Fried halibut. Better than English fish and chips! And the staff is great. A really friendly place. And if you come often you'll be offered your own boxed chopsticks that sit over the bar with your name and picture on it.
