On a cold day on December 16, 1985, my son Brandon was born at Mary Washington Hospital. My wife Debbie who was starving after giving birth wanted something good to eat. My sister-in-law and myself went in seach of some lasagna for her. My sister-in-law stated that she knew of a small Greek restaurant in the Park-and-Shop shopping center. We decided to go there. Hence started my addiction to Parthenon's Awesome food. For the past 22 years we have ate at Sophia's and Manny's Restaurant every couple of weeks. Sometimes twice a week. The small restaurant has an ambiance about it that can't be matched. You are treated like family and you always know that Sophia, Manny, Tony (Son) or Irene (Daughter)will be the ones to wait on you. Their food is incrediable. No greazy food here. Their Pizza is out of this world. All of their food is freshly prepared with quality ingrediants. Take the time and treat yourself to the best home cooked Greek meal that you will ever have. One warning though; if you go once, you will be hooked for life.

This family owned and run restaurant has been one of my Fredericksburg favorites for as long as I've been eating out. I started eating at the Parthenon during the previous owners time, and was worried when it changed hands about 20 years ago. I was pleased to say the least! It was, and still is the best place to get souvlaki or any other greek dish that you like. The Souvlaki platter is my personal favorite. And their house dressing is the best of any restaurant I have ever been to. I couldn't end this without mentioning their pizza as well. Pizza- that is in a word- 'perfect!'. It is what a pizza should be- and only what it should be. It doesn't try to be all fancy and different. The crust, sauce and cheese in substance and proportion are... perfect!
... No- I'm not the owner- or even friends of the owners. Sophia would recognize me- but doesn't even know my name. (Which is fine by me) And Manny probably wouldn't even know my face. And their adorable daughter- who I used to play 'hide and seek' with across the tables with when she would be in the restaurant at the young age of probably 4 or 5- now rings up my order when I leave- and is probably about 25 years old! (Although I doubt she remembers playing 'hide and seek' with me as a customer when she was 5 :) )
