I have been going there for 40 years. The last time I was there was 2001 and today, Lefty just looked at me and told me what I wanted. Now that is customer service. I love their pizza also. I dream of their food.

Moved from Arlington in 1983. Before moving away, I would stop by at least once, maybe twice a week. Whenever I return, I go to Mario's. If I thought I could get away with it, I would pack up the family and drive from Cincinnati.
Everyone should experience a few slices.

I have been eating at Marios since 1969. I left the D.C. area in 1988, but still go there every few years. I can walk into Marios and not even have to tell them what I want. Joe and Lefty are the geatest! I talk to lefty first and get the best Steak and Cheese or to Joe and get an unbelievable Italian sausage sub. These guys are the best. As for those who don't like the place, I guess you grew up eating pizza from Domminos and subs from Subway, when was the last time you went somewhere to eat and the people there knew what you wanted when you walked in the door. They have a hamburger sub that has cabbage, mayo, mustard and sweet pickles thats the bomb! It sounds awfull but don't knock it till you have tried it. Not to mention that the guys have been training young guys to take over after they retire to take over the place. Just as they took over after Mario Marino trained them. This place is unique in the fact you see people from every level of society there. I've seen every rank of the military there getting a sub, from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the lowest enlisted man, one night during the Nixon addim. saw the whitehouse limo outside with secret service escort. Wish the guys would move to Roanoke Va. and make my life complete!

This place has gone down hill

Since the owner's son has taken over, this place is nothing btter than a soup kitchen for the homeless and late night druggies.
They seem to skirt the health board by allowing unwashed homeless men to work in the kitchen. Can anyone say sick by bad food, it has happened twice to me in the last month. First time thought I caught a bug, second time knew better.
They seem to have full time service, they have drug dealers in their parking lot willing to get you whatever your heart desires. Just ask GTO, he'll get you anything you want.
Plus where the hell are their restrooms? I thought all eateries in Arlington County were suppose to have rest rooms for their customers uses. Seems this has slipped by the health inspectors.
Oh yes I have been going to Mario's for over 40 years and lately it has turned into the worst place in Arlington. If Lefty isn't operating the flat grill, you might as well eat at the Silver Dinner, the food is that bad.

    Worst pizza ever

OK, not only is the pizza pretty much inedible (I'd rather eat frozen pizza from 7/11), but the service is nightmarish. I foolishly tried to order something from Mario's Web site (this was before I'd actually tried their awful pizza). Well, I guess their Web site has some problems. Anyway, I had tried to order at about 6 o'clock in the evening. I was unsuccessful, so I ordered somewhere else and thought nothing more about it. Apparently, someone at Mario's was concerned that I hadn't been able to complete my order, because he called me about it later. Much later. He called me at 3 o'clock in the morning. I assume there was drinking involved.

I've not been to Mario's in many years. But my Mom went there when she was pregnant with me and I went there when I was pregnant w/ my sons. In fact, it was a treat for me and we'd meet up with friends, back in 1975 and park n eat. I went into labor a few hours after eating there. It is an institution and an extremely fond memory. I used to work at the Keyhole Inn, right down the street and would often get off work and grab a bite at Mario's on the way home. I miss it all.

Been totally ignored there twice. Asked for help once, totally ignored, left without food - ridiculous. Once ordered delivery, pizza never showed up. Terrible. What are these guys thinking? I try to eat their food, and I just can't seem to get to it. I sincerely apologize and will try someplace else. Oh yeah, totally overpriced (not that ever actually paid for it)

This is the worst pizza I have ever tasted. This pizza is worse than cafeteria pizza from grade school. The pizza costed over twenty dollars and tasted like cardboard. I wouldnt order this pizza again if it was free. DO NOT ORDER FROM MARIOS PIZZA PLACE END OF STORY. ITS GROSS AND SQUARE FOR SOME REASON

Our family loves this place. We have been coming here for many years. The employees are always great - especially the ones that have been there a very long times. You couldn't get a better pizza. The big pizza chains can't compete with Mario's. Again I say "we love Mario's!" :)

Square cut slices topped to order and served promptly. Eat promptly. Enjoy! Lefty makes the best (value and content) subs in DC Metro. Eat food on-site as it doesn't "travel well". I've loved this nearly 50 y.o. joint for 30 years. Enjoy it while you can because its small site on Wilson is now worth a fortune and is ripe for an alternative use.

    Awful service

    • Your Rating: 0/5 Stars

This place is terrible for service. The pizza guy doesn't even acknowledge you. Don't expect a thank you if you tip him, but you can expect serious attitude if you don't. When I went in today, all the employees were too busy watching Oprah to even acknowledge me for 90 seconds - and I was the only customer in there!!!
