I would like to make the case that Saigon Saigon is a decent restaurant; however, unfortunately the restaurant is extremely mediocre and in many cases worse. The ingredients are usually not very fresh, the servings of meat, though generous, are of a poor (low grade) quality, and the service is clumsy, cold, and indifferent. For example, when I asked the waiter/manager to adjust the amount of tax on our bill to reflect a change in price (lower) of a food item, he replied “you do not mind paying few extra cents do you.” Few extra cents aside, this lack of care for the customer is plainly obvious in the cooking—a bad combination for a restaurant. (If the food is great, one might be willing to tolerate poor service, but poor service at a poor restaurant does not make for a winning combination.)
If you live in DC and NOVA you probably have heard of the Eden Center where most locals go for good Vietnamese food--and for good cause. Avoid Saigon Saigon near Pentagon City Mall. Your money and taste buds would prefer just about any other Vietnamese restaurant in the area.
