We went to the Belmont with our 2 teenage children for my husband's birthday. We had a reservation and when we arrived, there were only 2 other tables occupied. We waited about 15 minutes for the waitstaff to take our drink orders and proceeded to order our dinner at the same time as the restaurant appeared understaffed. An hour later, we still didn't have any food. People who arrived after us ate and left. We asked multiple times where our dinner was and we were told it was being plated. . The waitress kept apologizing and kept telling us it wasn't her fault but could not explain where our dinner was.We finally left without ever being served. We never received an explanation as to where our food was although everyone was very apologetic. As we were walking out the door, we were told our food was ready and they could box it up for us. We did take it home and it was awful! I ordered rockfish which was overcooked and dry and polenta which was lumpy. My husband had a steak which was fair and a twice baked potato which obviously sat out for the hour we waited. The only thing edible was my son's steak fries. I will never go back.

We went to the New Belmont for a romantic dinner. We did not know it would be as excellent an experience as it turned out. We were just trying it out for the first time. The atmosphere was eclectic, pleasant and inviting. The service was very good, and the staff gave us their full attention, though there were many other diners. The food was first rate. The wine was also very good and the price, while not inexpensive, was reasonable. Other couples seemed to be enjoying themselves as well and they felt at ease enough to lean over and make recommendation, as it was our first visit. A wonderful evening and we have returned twice since that first visit a year ago.

After seeing a billboard for this Restaurant on which it poo-pooed Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (Ruth Who? Chris What?, etc) we ventured out on our regular Saturday night dine out to see how good it was. The restaurant is downstairs, the night club up, while the restaurant is small, but beautifully and innovatively decorated, the noise coming from upstairs made it hard for them to achieve the sought after romantic mood. (We asked if they had bowling up there and were told it was chairs scraping and bumping) The waitress was very nice, the service good, the drinks were good, the bread and herbed olive oil were not to our liking, but the thing that made me angry was that when our $25 and $30 steaks were presented, we were at that point informed that they were covered in tobasco butter. I, personally do not eat anything spicy. If it had been mentioned on the menu I would have politely asked for it to be withheld from my plate. The first and only bite (I did try it) revealed it to have no taste at all until it hit the back of my throat, at which point it burst into flames. The steak was returned and I sat and watched the rest of my party trying to eat their spicy steaks. None of them were able to finish because of the spicyness. When the other 2 people were presented with their $80 bill, the meekest and most polite of us went to speak with the manager. He turned out to be a man whom we had observed drinking at the downstairs bar throughout our visit. He proceeded to argue with her that we could go to their website at any time and see that they were #1. Needless to say they will get negative feedback from us and they came nowhere close to the impeccable service and delicious tastes of Ruth's Chris.
