I love Matsue Sushi. I eat in the restaurant or carry-out, they have never let me down. The quality of fish is always top-notch and the service is friendly and best of all, the prices are great! I eat Matsui Sushi at least once every other month. I have introduces many people to this place and they all love it too.

Matsui is by far the best sushi retaurant in the area. I have tried them all and Matsui beats them hands-down. I've been going there at least twice a month for two years. Charlie (the owner) is the friendliest guy you'll ever meet. The sushi is fresh and delicious...try the special scallops roll, you won't be dissapointed. I highly recommend Matsui.

My wife and I have been going to Matsui since before it even opened! I saw them working on the store, and we decided to try it. The lights were on so we just walked in, everyone turned in surprise and informed us the restaurant would not be open til the next week. We went back the following week and have been going back ever since. Charlie and Cathy are the nicest hosts. The Sushi is always fresh. If you are eating in try the jumbo spicy tuna roll, its amazing (it doesn't do quite as well carryout because it is a fried roll). Another favorite is the Dragon roll. Other items I have tried are the Veggie Lovers Salad and Seaweed salad. I highly recommend both of these items as well. I agree with the previous comments that the peanut dressing on their salads is wonderful. I just can't say enough nice things about Matsui.

What I noticed first about Matsui's Sushi was the friendly atmosphere. After two visits, I was greeted by name. Charlie, the owner ("Sushi Chef Supreme") and his wife Cathy really make you feel welcome. Then the sushi is served - so fresh, so carefully prepared and SO DELICIOUS. With my friends and family, I have tried almost everything on the menu - ALWAYS completely satisfied! They are very accomodating if you have a special request. The restaurant is kept very clean (bathroom, also). I have eaten at Matsui's very often and one of my favorite dishes is the 'Special Roll', a spicy scallop mixture you have to taste to believe. I love it! I just wish I could give it more than 10 stars!

as always - i continuously search for good sushi, and matsui always is the best.

close, local, great nice owners, awseome price. not only is the sushi great, the teryaki food and soups are great as well.

i highly reccommend this place! for a date or just to eat. it is a place i attend once a week

This is the best tasting, freshest sushi place you will ever find in the DC metro area. Food and service are phenomenal even for those who dont like sushi!!! We have been there at least 50 times in 3 years and the food has always been great. The price is better than anyone in the area too. This is a must!

Nothing Fancy but Still The Best Sushi Around written by Demi

My whole family has been going to Matsui since it opened. I tried most places in the NOVA area and this is by far the best sushi in the area. Not only is the sushi awesome but it is the best priced too. As many have already stated, Charlie (the owner) greets us by our first names every time we walk in. If I go with friends or someone from the family is missing, he always asks about the family. The place is nothing fancy but it is still nice and always clean. An empty sushi place is not one that I would recommend eating at and you never have to worry about that at Matsui. It's all-around great.

I've been living in Alexandria for 3 years. I've been to many sushi places (Yamazato, Osaka, Hanna Tokyo, etc.) and the best place to eat sushi is at Matsui. The place is very friendly. The sushi is fresh, has great flavor. I specially enjoy the Las Vegas Roll and yhe Special Roll. There is one sushi named the Pacific Roll made with asparagus, mango and cream cheese that is delicious! You won't regret it!

We dine here several times a month. Charlie and Cathy, the owners are cordial and make you feel like you are dining with old friends. The food is always fresh and top notch quality. The presentation superb. We have never been disappointed (since our first visit 5 years ago on opening day) and recommend it to all our friends.

I have been going to Matsui since I was a senior in highschool (I am now a sophmore in college) and it is by far the BEST sushi restaurant I have ever been to. It was where I actually trued sushi for the first time and I have to admit it was an interesting experience. I was scared to try it at first but am so glad I did. Charlie is the nicest guy you will ever meet, the staff is friendly, the place is spotless, and the sushi is AMAZING! I definitely reccomend Matsui Sushi to anyone and everyone.

I've been going to Matsui Sushi now for almost 2 years. It's by far the best Sushi around. Charlie (the owner) is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and he makes sure that you are comfortable and well taken care of. The fish is top quality and some of the rolls are works of art. I recommend the Las Vegas roll. Outstanding.

I've been eating at Matsui Sushi about once a week for over a year now, sometimes more often. I sometimes eat there for lunch and sometimes for dinner. The food is always fabulous and the service is good. The peanut salad dressing is addictive!!! For sushi, I find the prices to be fairly inexpensive. The takeout service is good....very well packaged so things don't spill. For fancier rolls I recommend the special roll and the dragon roll. You absolutely MUST try this place.

This place is the best. Every visit is outstanding..the sushi is so fresh and so good. They have great selections and their service is very pleasant. The other menu items aside from sushi are fantastic as well. A quaint dining experience where the food is out of this world. A must! Definitely the best sushi restaurant in Alexandria/Springfield.

Excellent Neighborhood Sushi written by smata67

Based on previous reviews, we went to lunch here today. What a find! My top choice for casual lunch sushi in NoVa is still Yamazato, but this place is a very close second. The "executive business lunch" consists of 9 maki rolls and 6 nigiri (incl eel, a favorite) for only $8.95 and comes with a small salad (best peanut dressing of any sushi place), miso, and tea. Try the fried ice cream, very special. The owner is the friendliest Japanese I have ever met, making you feel like a long time customer on the first visit. Anyone within 20 minutes or so that needs good sushi should pay the place a visit. Excellent value.

Best Sushi Place in Northern VA written by akargus

Some of the best Japanese food anywhere...especially in northern Virginia. We've been in Matsui Sushi for special occasions, with family/friends, and just to eat -- and every time the food and service are impeccable. When living in Japan I developed a love for Yakisoba, and while I've tried many restaurants, the recipe at Matsui is by far the most authentic.

I completely agree with the previous reviewer. This place is the best. Delicious sushi, friendly staff, etc. In fact, there's another sushi place close by with such sub-par food and rude service (I think it's called Osaka, near Springfield mall), we thought we wouldn't have a local Japanese restaurant we would like. Then, we found Matsui walking distance from our house! Charlie, the manager (I'm a bit skeptical that this is his real name) is incredibly nice. Tonight is our first big party there (12) and I know it's going to be perfect.
