If Moroccan food with Spanish/French flair sounds like your thing then Aromas is the place for you.
The service is exceptional. The food is fabulous (the chicken swharma and Casablanca sandwich are out of this world), the Passion fruit iced tea was outstanding and I usually don't like couscous, but mixed with the spicy red sauce it was great.
I also hear that the Moroccan chicken wrap, eggplant/aborigine sandwich and falafel are unbelievable.
As far I could tell, everything was made from utterly fresh and of the highest quality foods (no canned stuff here).
Perfect lunch-time portions (not huge but certainly not small). IMO, it’s also fairly inexpensive.
The worst thing about the place is it's odd location and weird cafeteria-style atmosphere---but they make that work.
For quality of food alone this is, hands down, the best place in Charlottesville (and there are some GREAT places to eat in this town). Don't miss it!
Aroma's is only open for lunch (11:30-2:00) but Hassan (who happens to be the owner and one of the friendliest people you will ever meet) told me that he's opening a second, more easily found place in October or November of 2007.
I can’t wait, this place is unbelievable!
