My Overall Experience written by

My fiance recommended this restraunt to me. We decided to give it a try. As we approached, we noticed a beautifual red carpet leading up to the front entryway. We also noticed a menu on the outside wall (with no prices). I admit, I was a little hesitant to give this place a try. Upon entering, we noticed that this establishment is of a semi-formal nature.
The server was very well spoken and pleasent. In fact, there were multiple servers, they often exchanged our silverware, drinks, recommended selections, and told us a little background of their restraunt and some of the employees.
I found the food to be of a very high quality. I did rate the food a little low because I like my sauce to be a little more spicy than the sauce that was offered. I ordered the Manacotti, my finance ordered the Lasagna. Both were textured very well and very creamy. I notmally battle with a lactose intollerance of cheeses after a certain hour of the day, but there were no battles. This was very fine cheese. For desert, we had the teramouse. Oh, my God, the creamy cheese sauce!!!
The overall value for the buck was well worth another visit. We spent $75.66 (including a $10.00 tip). I would highly recommend not getting the salad because it is nothing more than a bunch of leaves and VERY overpriced. But again, the quality of the overall meal was exquisited. Sorry for all my spelling mistakes!

Good food, POOR SERVICE!!! written by

The food is great but the service is ridiculously poor. The hostess looks like a pinata, her perfume made my nose burn. The server looked messy and didn't really take the time to explain some of the menu items. It was almost as if we were being rushed to order and rushed to eat. The seating is horrible. The tables are too close together and all lined up. The place is a DUMP. The food was good, the wine selection great but that's not enough to make me want to go back.

Dinner at new Savino's in Las Cruces written by

My grand daughter Yonseili recommended this new restaurant that just opened in Las Cruces, NM. The menu is extensive, and moderately priced. I had the Risotto Lucania. My wife had the Melanzane Parmigiana. Both were excellent. The owner (born in Milano)is breaking in a new crew of servers. The chef is an experienced man from Sicily. Las Cruces has needed a quality Italian restaurant for years. Owner has applied for a wine and beer license. The food is excellent. This is a 'must try' restaurant. I plan on recommending it to my friends.

100 times better than the El Paso location!! written by

Our last visit was not in 2006, it was actually back in 2005--El Paso, TX
When I heard Savino's had relocated to Las Cruces I hardly rejoiced. I must say the food is good but the service was horrendous. From what I heard it was mostly Savino’s wife’s family members working at the El Paso location. The hostess, an older drag queen, was wearing a body suite and a fake pony tail—this alone was bizarre. She then snapped her acrylic nails at one of the servers, grabbed her by the arm in a violent way and whispered something in the server’s ear. The poor girl cringed and the whole thing made us uncomfortable. Once seated, the drag queen assured us that we would not be getting that nasty server….ok, what gives? We’re guests! The strange lady then stared my girlfriend up and down through her many layers of eyeliner and in a heavy Mexican accent wished us “bon appétit”.
Our server then came to our table and told us the specials with a huge smile on her face, she was very polite. This was refreshing and made us forget about the Dragon Lady. But then 10 minutes passed and we had all the bread we could eat and no drinks. She finally came over with our pinot grigio. Hmmm, never had RED pinot… She walked away and didn’t come back for another several minutes. Please note that she was never rude to our faces and had a huge smile on her face both times she came to our table. Once we finally ordered and we got our food we were thrilled to find that the food was delicious. Unfortunately the service left us with a bitter taste in our mouths and we vowed to never return.
Now they’ve relocated and we’re thinking New Staff…YAY! Chicken Marsala here we come!
We've agread to give it another shot and will be dining there Wednesday. We’ll give you our verdict soon!
