I've been to plenty of Persian restaurants in Dallas throughout the years. They may have amazing decorations and the place may have wonderful ambiance but the main ingredient is always missing, the food just wasn't good and no where worth the $15-$25 a plate. That's why they fail and go up in smoke like the horrible Kabob's they try to serve. I've been eating at Samad Cafe for nearly 20 years even though he's changed location a few times and have yet to find a place with the combination of amazing taste/huge portions/price that I've found at Samad's. It's a no frills lunch cafe in a location that you could easily miss if you didn't know it was there but he's open everyday except Sunday. So if your looking for a place to take a date this is not the place for you. If your looking for a authentic home-cooked meal dine-in or carry out for lunch for under $10 bucks then this is the place you want to go. I know the food has to be fresh because there is only three things on the menu. Everyday there's beef kabob, chicken kabob, and a daily special which changes day by day. The special is either a vegatable dish like spinach/cilantro/parsley stew or eggplant/squash/split pea stew or a meat dish like slow-broiled chicken or tender lamb shank, etc. The owner and operator, Samad, runs the entire place; cooks, cleans, waits, and is a pleasant and wonderful host. I leave so stuffed that I usually end up taking half my food home which also make great left-overs. I highly suggest taking the time to find this place if you've never eaten Persian food or if you just love to eat.
