A Wedding at the Edge of Texas Steakhouse & Salo written by elpgal
Last visited this restaurant on June 08, 2008

I have been to the Edge of Texas several times with my family & friends. (wedding anniversaries, birthdays, just to get together)

Each time I have gone the food and service are excellent. My fiance, who lived in Pittsburgh, took a drive by himself while I was at work and came to the end of Dyer St. and there was the Edge of Texas (Dec. 07) He raved about the atmosphere and the food, the surroundings. So when we decided to get married I felt I couldn't go wrong by having the ceremony and reception there on the 4th of July 2008. Guests will always remember the food served at the reception, and I know we will all have a great meal! Joan Ruan has been a wonderful 'wedding planner' in helping me with this big event. Thanks to all and see ya on the 4th!

Romantic and lovely to look at written by anonymous

My dining experience at this lovely resturant was the best I have ever had. The food was especially tasty and well seasoned. Other restaurants food can some times be very bland.
The wait staff all worked together to make sure our drinks were never empty. Oh, and never a finished plate was left on the table for a long period. They really seemed to care that we were comfortable with our surroudings.
The art work that decorates the walls is beautiful. And you can buy it right off the wall if you want too.
This restaurant far exceded my expectations. I was very happy not to be over run with childern. Sometimes you want to leave your childern at home and not eat with other childern.I will go back often.

High prices - barely mediocre food written by rrb
Last visited this restaurant on July 08, 2007

Salads were good, bread was good and sides were good but the main event - the meat was terrible. The rib eye was ordered medium rare and came almost well done - it was sent back and recooked and now was more on the really rare side and also was over salted. It looked like it hadn't been grilled but cooked on a frying pan or flat griddle. The combo plate had sausage, brisket and ribs. The ribs, which were listed as falling off the bone, were dry and the meat had to be cut off with a knife, the brisket was fatty, thick sliced and not tasty. Only the sausage was good.

We eat out frequently and all in all Edge of Texas was a huge disappointment. Maybe the problem was that this was over the July 4th week but nevertheless, the food should have been better. This is an expensive place to eat and in the middle of no where. Because of the prices and the sizes of steaks offered, and as the food was unknown, we did a share. They charge $5.00 to share but that includes extra sides.

We will not return to this restaurant.

Best Little Steakhouse in Texas! written by jodienewby

"The Edge" is a great All Texas Experience. The Steak is a favorite and literally melts in your mouth forsure. However, you have to try the Monterey Chicken, the coconut shrimp and Bucky's famous fried corn. Oh and don't forget to start with the most fabulous Tortilla soup and end your experience with Bucky's homemade desert. (Bucky Bowen is the owner) em,em good!!! The atmospher is like no other in El Paso - Western Chic!! Dine in casual attire under crystal chandaliers to the western music of Tim Thompson. It is a wonderful experience!!

Best steak place in West Texas written by rocmar2001

I host the referee's for the Sun Bowl game every year and I have taken them to the "Edge" year in and year out. When the meal is done and we head back to the hotel, everyone can't stop talking about the great food, the outstanding service and the reasonable prices. If you want a true Texas steakhouse with great food and great service, this is the place to go. Bucky Bowen and her staff have gone all out to make this a true Texas adventure. No other restaurant in West Texas even comes close to what you get for the money at the Edge of Texas. If you're visiting El Paso and want a great West Texas meal, no other place even comes close to this one.

I have never had such good steak at a restaurant before. It was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. Keep up the good work!

A lot of hype and a waste of money. written by badluckdragon

We used to live near the restaurant and at that time my husband was in the military and we never really had the extra money to go eat there. Well, traveling back through El Paso, years later we finally went. I was quite excited and we took a friend, his wife and their two children with us. It was nice knowing that now not only can we afford to go, but we can afford to order what we really want.

My ratings are low because they are based on getting what you pay for. I felt that the prices were ridiculous for what you received. We eat out alot now and we eat at a high end restaurant at least weekly now. And I felt that The Edge of Texas turned out to be more of a place with a cool name than it did a great dining experience.

The ambiance is nice, however no greater than the other "Texas" steak places in El Paso. And of course those are alot closer and less pricey. The food was good, but honestly again, no better than the other places. And at several steak houses around El Paso which charged less, we could actually afford to eat there even back then, you get alot more food for your money.

Forget leftovers, you get a decent serving, but that is exactly what it is. It is not one of those places where you look at your plate and think, "I can't eat all this" because trust me, you can.

For a restaurant I had waited years to go to, I was really not impressed. I have no problem with averaging 30 dollars a person for a meal, but I didn't feel that this meal was worth it. Not at all.

I would not return to Edge of Texas, you can do so much better for the money. Especially if you are in Texas! Our bill for 6 people was about 200 dollars, and the food was just not worth it. I was also unimpressed by how crowded together the tables were. They were very slow that night so it wasn't a big deal, but if it had been busy, that would have been very uncomfortable.

To sum it up, "The Edge of Texas" is a really cool name and makes it sound like something very special. But in my opinion it is more hype than anything. I would never waste my money going there again.
