Traveling through Quanah, TX (honestly) and stopped for lunch. I chose Dutch’s because there were a lot of pickup parked out front. I figured if the locals eat there, I’d give it a try.
They had both a lunch menu and a buffet. After perusing the hot buffet line I was sold. There was also a very good salad buffet table. One oddity was a curried pea choice. I’m not a big curry fan, but found it very good. The day I visited, the hot buffet included tamales, chicken fajitas, meat enchiladas, country fried steak, taco chips and refried beans. The tamales were shredded beef, excellent. The enchiladas had a very tasty gound beef filling and were smothered with cheese. But the country fried steak stood out - not deep fried, the coating wasn’t too heavy, but it was SPICY. There was a strong residual heat, hey I was in Texas and I like it hot and Dutch’s didn’t disappoint. The country gravy didn’t stand out to me, but was good.
There was a soft serve ice cream machine, but I didn’t have any room left after my second CF steak ;->
Friendly waitresses, large dining room split almost in half with smoking and non-smoking sides.
Lunch without a drink, I like straight carbonated water which was unavailable so I just had water was $7.95 plus tax.
Next time I’m in Quanah, TX - haha - I’ll definitely stop back for another meal.
