Ben's is no Katz's Deli but it is clean and convenient and does not skimp on quality or portions. Prices are typical of NY delis (high for this 40 something but that's just because I'm old!). Corned Beef is particularly good; pastrami not as good, but I'm nitpicking. Franks and fries are very good, and every table gets cole slaw--a little sweet for my taste--and pickles which are sometimes soggy and sometimes crisp and always delightfully garlicky. A real value is the Roumanian Steak which is one of the best in the city. At $18.99 it is huge and comes with two sides, fried onions, and the above-mentioned appetizers. Take out counter staff are quick and professional. Month and year of last visit is accurate.
