When In Ocean City Plan To A Trip To Periwinkle's. From Being Greeted At
Door To Your Meal it Is An Experence. The Food Is Great Especially The Sea
Food
I really was looking forward to going to Periwinkles, because from the exterior it looked like a great small little private seafood restaurant that you would think offers a great seafood experience.
The atmosphere was great. It offered that "at the shore" type environment that you would like to experience.
The service, well all I can say is that the waiter came and took my order and then dropped off my food. Once my children and I were finished eating, we sat there for about 20 minutes waiting for the check because the waiter was nowhere to be found.
The food was the most disappointing part of my experience. I am going to go out on a limb and say that national chains offer higher quality seafood. The crab cakes, I use the word crab loosely because there was only a small sighting of crab and that was very questionable. If you love corn meal and celery, then go here for crab cakes.
They have the location and the atmosphere, but they really need to rethink the menu and quality. Pricing was fine and I would have been willing to pay more had the food been of higher quality.
Can't say that I will go back to Periwinkles anytime soon.
My family absolutely loves Periwinkles, it is an Ocean City tradition for us. They are kind enough to re-open for the season the weekend of the Doo Dah parade, and we always eat there that first weekend.
We love the way it is decorated. I've never seen so many adorable snail statues ever. I like their plates and festive colored napkins and eclectic collection of coffee cups.
The food is amazing, and a really good deal. There is a seafood buffet included with entree dinners if you arrive between 3:30 and 5:00. Shrimp, mussels & clams - mmmmmmm. They also have a truly price conscious early bird menu, and as if that isn't enough, an additional value menu.
I'm a fan of the coconut shrimp, ahi tuna and their crab cakes. Their family style salad is delicious as well - their lemon vinagrette is unique and tasty. The salad alone is worth the trip, but the seafood appetizer buffet is an added bonus. OH! And the snails! They have a snail appetizer that is just delicious.
The owners have always been there when we have eaten at Periwinkles, and are very conscientous about their guests having a good meal.
I really can't say enough good things about Periwinkles. The price is right, the food is wonderful, and the service and atomsphere are terrific. Go there!
My wife and I have eaten there about 4 or 5 times. Each time we'd order something differant, and each time the food was cooked to perfection. Portion sizes are just enough, I,ve never left unsatisfied. The chef has also gone out of his way to customize meals for my wife, she has many food allergies. I found this site while looking for a phone number to see if they have opened for the season yet, and thought I'd take a minute to offer my opinion.
Well what can I say about this place? Once it went under new management the place kind of went down hill. The food is alright but could be much better. The service was amazing. My waiter was a little cutie too. If you're looking for over priced, you should deffinately stop in. But over all its a nice place to eat once then never go back to again.
My husband and I now make sure that we always eat at Periwinkle's when we are at the shore. It's not "cheap" but the food is worth every penny. I love their coconut shrimp and soup sampler. We also enjoy the "early bird specials" they offer daily. A must do!
