Two years ago I had my first lunch there and I have been going back at least one a week since. The service and the food are both great.
This is by far my favorite place to eat downtown - period. The food is fantastic, and the staff is always very nice and friendly to me. The hibachi chicken is the best hibachi-style dish I have ever eaten, and the sauce they serve with it is absolutely amazing. (Ask for an extra shrimp sauce - you'll want it!) Vivian at the register is the most efficient human being I have ever seen, and always takes good care of me. Wonderful, wonderful place that I cannot rave about enough.
I have been a long time customer of Tin Tin Box. No matter what time of day you go here, your going to get the best food in town. As an added bonus is getting to deal with the manager Vivian. Absolutely the nicest woman you could possibly meet.I live in a "transitional neighborhood", and she still delivers to my house. Do yourself a favor and eat here!!!
The food was magnificent. I love their Hibachi Chicken with Mushrooms. What do they put into the sauce there? I swear I am hooked. The service is awesome! Viv pays attention to all her customers and really make her restaurant more inviting. Have not tried the soup yet, but will really soon. Three thumbs up!!!!
Best hibatchi chicken you will ever eat. The service is not always the best at the cash register, but the food cannot be beat anywhere. Very quick service. Reasonable pricing. I haven't tried the soups, but hear they are just as amazing. Hibatchi shrimp and steak are just as amazing.
Although the menu is simple it looks like the best hibachi you can get in a quick made to order lunch style restaurant. I got the steak rice box, and i was not impressed. I only continued eating because I was starving, but I am looking forwar to trying the pho soup. i usually pick the wrong thing on the menu anyway, and it looked like the more savvy lunch goers that had been here before got mostly soup or shrimp dishes. Some of teh staff was a little rude, but if you saw how hard they were working, and how many people there were it would be a real surprise to get a smile and extra considerations. Just don't go at noon if you don't want to deal witha rushed pushy environment and attitude.
My family was visiting from Northern Virginia and after an expensive (and fun) adventure to Discovery Place, we meandered into Tin Tin Box & Noodles late on Saturday afternoon.
As always, the staff was delightful, the food was perfect, and the entire experience outstanding.
The Gyoza (#7, Pork dumplings, you can get them fried or steamed, with Lo Mein or rice) is my favorite.
The first time I went to Tin Tin, I ordered #3, which was excellent. My friend Jeff, however, ordered the Gyoza. He was the smarter of the two of us. He was also kind enough to share on of his Gyoza. I've been hooked ever since.
This time, my brother Josh STOLE one of my Gyoza, right out of my box. He didn't even ask. Even though he offered to trade me some of his delightful "Not spicy, I'm a round-eye" -- I can't help that we're related -- soup, I was inconsolable.
Definitely go to Tin Tin; every day except Sunday; they are closed.
Tin Tin is an excellent dining experience. The food is great and there is always a large variety. The food is exceptionally fresh, including the sushi. I was impressed to see a chef making sushi on the bar. I would recommend Tin Tin to anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine. Tin Tin is a delicious dining experience.
I starting going to Tin Tin a few months back and love it. If you are trying to eat healthly and at a low cost this is the place. I get the Hibachi chicken w/steamed rice. The chicken is not breaded or fried and if you ignore the side sauce for the cabbage, you are set for a great, tasty, low calorie lunch. It is always a mad house at lunch, so just be patient; as they always seem friendly to me.
I went there couple of times and both times it was a bad experience. The staff is rude, service bad. They forgot to prepare my order while stood for about 15 minutes and saw everyone else getting the order. then finally i asked them about it and they didn't even apologize.
the soup i ordered was spicy broth but when i opened the box it came up non spicy one. The pack didn't even include salt and pepper.
I am not going there back again
Best oriental food uptown (especially compared the the nearby chinese buffet in Ivey's court). Tin Tin is almost totally devoid of customers later in the day, for what reason i can't comprehend, but makes for a nice quiet dinner with friends before hitting up the loud bars. The second floor gives a good view of Tryon Street if you're a people-watcher too. Overall, great food, great atmosphere, workers are friendly... no real downside to this place, except maybe the enormous line of annoying suits at lunch, but you'll find that everywhere uptown from noon - 2pm. OH and I hope you live within walking distance because odds are at night if you want to park ANYWHERE it's at least $10 because of basketball. >=/
We happened upon Tin Tin after parking in front of it to attend the Belk Theatre. I adore fried Dumplings, so ordered pork fried dumplings with noodles (#7 I think) and my friend got the Salmon. We added wonton soup "spicy" and requested plates. Our food was outstanding, the people helpful, place clean. The only downside was their lack of hot tea - but still it was an amazingly good & reasonably priced meal. SUPPORT THIS GREAT PLACE!
As a native Charlottean and a verteran Uptown worker, I was convinced that there was truly nothing new to be had under the sun. I am not given to writing reviews, but truly the entree I selected, the Pho Noodle soup was simply delicious. I asked that it only be mildly spicy (and it was)and the people making it seemed to take a great amount of pride in what they were doing. That was clearly evident not only in the taste but the fabulously generous quality, taste and overall presention of the food. I am sold, and so will anyone else be that ventures in!
I recently moved to charlotte and I'm just getting use to all the food option, but this has quickly become my favorite lucnh stop in uptown. Just make sure you go after 12pm because that popular lunch time keeps the line almost out of the indy bldg. the noddles are GREAT!!!!!!! i just put the chop sticks down LOL
